Re: Baltic Dry Index....COLLAPSING
None of you know what the hell you're talking about. The BDI should have collapsed a few years back, but was being pushed back up by china's demand for raw materials for their developing infrastructure.

They have now completed their purchases, and are also having major problems of their own, so now you know what's going to happen next!

BDI = 26 major global shipping companies which is also a britis/uk indicator. Very reliable, and can not be manipulated like the other markets because all shipping is paid well in advance of actual shipping.

AC 6897881 ( Page one ) ......" That means we have been in a depression for 3 years !"
Been saying that for THREE YEARS ! BUT, the Obammy media were first talking about " green shoots', but that got 'shot' down/withered !

One has to have spent some time here, been through a Depression, like I have to see/recognize all the signs/symptoms. The BDI was down in 2009 and 2010, but all the naysayers on those threads were here like shills, screaming and yelling " Nothing New ". "Stay with American Idol/porn or MSM as it is all working out; and besides, Oboe is 'monetoring the situation', LOL !

COMPARE CLOSELY WITH LAST YEAR.

things are supposed to be getting 'better'?

bullshit.

check the 1 day results as well.

the trend is much worse than even last year!..

commerce is diving folks!

it looks like the last 3yrs have been like a death rattle motion...something kicking to survive...but now...is going SOUTH...exhaling it's last breath

Down another 3.79% today.
1013.

As has been said before. 1020 or lower is the level at which shippers lose money(ie they can not pay fuel, crew, and maintenance costs).

[link to www.bloomberg.com]

Expect more shippers to go bankrupt in the next few months, much like happened last year.

Frontline Crashes and Burns

Frontline (FRO) has long been considered one of the best managed shipping company in the business. Let by John Frederiksen, the company has managed to create tremendous shareholder wealth in good years, including succulent dividends and capital gains. The company is now floundering and has announced that there is too much uncertainty in its business and it needs a capital restructuring – more capital infusion – to survive. It is very likely that it may be able to renegotiate some of its debt facilities.

IE Frontline just died.

BDI is an economic indicator but what number is going to be a bad one to look out for in the next week? It seems to be losing 30+ points daily but whats the "Oh shit" number like, 500 or something?

Re: Baltic Dry Index....COLLAPSING
I'd say we can now safely conclude that the BDI has entered a death spiral.

We know the BDI is very volatile. In 2010 it also had its plunge but the ECRI clearly said that this
was temporary. We were not going to enter a recession. They were right.
This time however, the ECRI claims a global recession has already started and there's nothing we can do about it. Love it how they rub that in.

It looks like things are going to converse nicely: China bubble imploding, Greece about to default, debt crisis out of control and the BDI breaching its so important 900 level. Throw in a nice natural disaster and we got ourselves a nice spectacle to watch soon.

Another 3.6% + drop, down to 726. What was that all time low again? At this rate, might see it next week.
