POLL:WHAT'S THE BEST ANDROID TABLET FOR THE MONEY???????

 Quoting: TruthAddict 1106192

Have the Nexus 7, vut picked up a cheap generic tablet as a gift for 60 USD during the holidays.

1.2 GHz Rockchip processor and ICS (4.0.4)

Root it and got JB 4.1.1 running on it.

You will find even cheaper ones with dual core for 35 bucks on aliexpress.com
Sweet deal, if you ask me

Ha!Ha!Ha!Ha!!!!! I wasn't execting this! An interesting answer from a friend, to an old thread that I posted about having dropped my Droid!!!

Thanks for the info, dude!

Yeah, it's nice to be "tech savvy", and to be able to carry out "improvements" to cheap, yet "well-endowed" gadgets—tablets being a very nice example these days, aswell.
I am AMAZED at the prices you're giving me too, dude! You make it sound like ANYONE can go from "zero-to-hero" on just a paltry budget...hmmmmn...well, what can I say?...If it's THAT easy to modify/improve a cheapo tablet, then why spend TONS more dosh, when you can do it yourself...?

CAUTION!: I'm not doing his to annoy the guy who posted today, but, you REALLY REALLY REALLY need to take into consideraion the quality of the battery that operates the tablet you intend on "improving"...MANY cheaply-manufactured tablets are fitted with ASTOUNDINGLY-AWFUL batteries, so-much-so that you're better-off avoiding them COMPLETELY—regardless of how little the tablet sells at! I know...I bought such a tablet back in early 2011!...
Yeah, I became somewhat of an internet sensation using it (remember my "Lieutenant Colonel S.C." thread about the "GIANTS/UFOs INVASION"? It got 43,000 HITS, man!!!), but, after just a few weeks using the Droid, I noticed that its battery lifetime went from a *decent* 2½ hours, to a pathetic ½ an hour! Suffice-to-say: I just got too frustrated wih the *chap* to bother myself with it any longer...!

ANOTHER drawback that the cheapo tablets have, is the fact that many of them use EXTREMELY inferior materials for their screen. You'll find that screen quality will become SERIOUSLY affected by wear-and-tear in a VERY short space of time! Yeah, you CAN circumvent this annoyance, simply by buying a thin sheet of "screensaver" plastic to protect the tablet's screen, but check out how the screen is attached to the tablet, though: SOME models are PRONE to the complaint that I have termed as: "screen peel". This means that the tablet's screen LITERALLY peels OFF—all by itself! YEP! Another VERY annoying defect!!!

I still say that the old adage applies: Spend a bit more, and save a LOT more!!!

You decide...

peace
