Anti-Polish communities in U.S

Poles like all Slavs are considered third tier whites. Fairly strong discrimination exists in the business world but it's rarely discussed.

There is another reason that anti-Polish bigotry remains in America today: the pronunciation of Polish names. American schools are generally very weak, and so most Americans cannot speak or even read any language other than English. Thus, when they encounter a foreign name they cannot pronounce, they often project their own ignorance onto the other person!

Did you have Polish serfs in U.S? I am not asking about the past I am asking about the present times. I doubt your ideas, because there were a lot such a people like Poles (from Italy for instance) and they didn't have problems you described here. If I remember compulsory education existed.


In the 20th century, anti-Polish bigotry has come mostly from the Jewish community. Jewish people made up roughly 10% of the Polish population (up until World War II), and often enjoyed mocking the poverty, lack of education, and lack of freedom of the Polish serfs/peasants. Many Jewish people carried this bigotry to America.


Giving asylum for jewish people by Poles till the end of the I Republic could have been a problem for U.S protestant bigotry.Many Poles had Jewish roots.jewish people were often also poor.

The reason of the Jewish antipolonism could be conversions of many of their countrypeople to Catholicism or Polish right sentiment. Nowadays some of jewish people can try to force Polish government to the partially restitution of the prewar ownership. Promoting of anti-Polish sentiment is one of their tools here.Antipolonism is also promoted by Putin for causing s.c diplomatic insulation of Poland.

Chicago has the largest ethnic polish population outside of Warsaw. Poles were regarded as stupid for many years, as when their original immigration occurred mostly they were freed serfs,uneducated,poor, and with a language that was unrelated to the western European languages, such as German,French and English that were the primary languages of the time.

Today, it is still customary to refer to a Pole as a Polack, but mostly as a joke,In the US many, (self included) still jokingly refer to all ethnicitys with slang names, Dago, Frog, Kraut, limey, Mic,etc. all are still used in jokes.


There is no picking out of Poles for discrimination,like Blacks or Hispanics,they are regarded by the general population as whites.

Poles are sometimes confused with Russians, as are Serbs,Baltics and other Slavs.

Italian and Irish immigrants suffered far greater discrimination than the Poles.

Not here. If a Pole is singled out for abuse by police, it is doubtful that reason is ethnicity, more of bad timing.
