He has over 1/4 billion dollars and some overseas so no-one knows for sure. Everyone's angry about the Wallstreet bailout and this is the front runner? He made 100million dollars on selling off one of the companies in the video and has the audacity to say he helps create jobs (20:00mark-corporations are people, who benefits from corporations but the people) is such a lie. How many small businesses could he have started in that area with just a 10th of his profit to make sure those people had jobs, if he wanted to brag about job creation, why didn't he do that with part of the money? The lady said it's all about greed and this video really proved her point. I'm all for capitalism, but he shouldn't be bragging about being a job creator and using his business time to prove what he can do for America, because this is corporatism at it's finest. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8710279 Not only that, but he's been coming in 1st! Absolutely crazy. It's surprising, with the anger that Americans have these days with the super rich (Quarter BILLION-Romneys worth that we know about), corporatism and jobs, his money is buying ad time, air time to be able to speak slick that he is the one to vote for and our people are buying still buying it. Hopefully, they'll wake up soon enough to put him in the rear of the race. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 8400244 01/12/2012 05:02 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's Bains influence on the media: Thread: BAIN CAPITAL ( Mitt Romney's co.) syndicates Limbaugh,Hannity,Beck,Savage& Levin ! Also, in that thread, there's a video I'm about to go watch about Bain getting a $44 Million dollar bailout. I didn't get a bailout and I never made $100,000,000 from selling a company so how come they got one? |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8659844 01/12/2012 05:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Romney Got $10 Million Federal Bailout At Bain Mitt Romney received a $10 million bailout from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in 1991, an event that runs contrary to the multimillionaire’s current anti-bailout position. Documents obtained by the Boston Globe show that the FDIC negotiated a $10 million forgiveness with Bain & Co. while Romney was chairman and CEO in 1993. The negotiations were part of a deal designed to reduce the debt load at the company, which was near bankruptcy. The FDIC had been forced to seize Bank of New England, who was a creditor of Bain’s. In 2008, in a New York Times op-ed titled “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt,” Romney argued that “Detroit needs a turnaround, not a check.” [link to www.nationalconfidential.com] |

Like, a list of companies that Bain bought or whatever, while Romney was in charge. "It Took Me A While To Realise, But N.A.M. Is The Greatest Poster On This, Or Any Other Forum." |
| MsWicked User ID: 8740840 01/12/2012 07:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I watched the video, but the bottom line is that it was designed to make us consider political events at an emotional level. First, I do not support Romney. I do support Gingrich...because of his intellect and common sense approach to government. I've advocated for years that government should be run like a business. Back to the video...... It does raise some questions. The first thing that came to my mind was that if the company accepted venture capital, it was because the owners of the company needed money and sought investors. It's not that Bain Capital execs woke up one day and said, "I think we'll buy so and so company." If the owners of the companies went looking for venture capital, there were contracts predicating the terms of having people (i.e. Bain Capital) invest. These contracts specify interest, stock option or warrants, performance requirements, etc. The owners of the companies were not forced to accept the investment that Bain was willing to make. They chose to accept it. Most venture capital contracts have something called a "claw back" written into them. The "claw back" stipulates the conditions that will allow the owners who sought the venture capital to "claw back" (regain) control of the company...as in ownership of the stock. If Bain Capital was able to liquidate these companies, it was most likely due to the companies not achieving performance benchmarks (as in profit, market share, cost reductions, etc.). I didn't hear any of the people being interviewed discuss the prior management of the companies or place any responsibility on the original management of the company for putting the company in a position that required venture capital. I guess it just comes across as the employees expecting someone to float the company just so they can get a paycheck. That's not quite how it works in a capitalistic society. Could Bain Capital have made less money....sure. But those who took the venture capital knew when they made the deal what the fees and interest were. They also knew what the consequence of not meeting performance expectations were. Who should these people really be pissed at? MsWicked |
