I remember having a bonfire last Venus transit in 2004.
This transit could be the catalyst for a shift of consciousness predicted by the ancients. People (and Mother Nature) do act strange whenever there is a major planetary alignment. This could be the big one.

"2012 Survival Guide
1.Find out when and where the 2012 transit of Venus is visible from your location.
2.Call some friends or family and plan a group gathering.
3.Plan and agree on how you will view the sun safely. (You can't skip this step.) If you can't do it right, consider defaulting to a live webcast of the spectacle.
4.Consider learning some of the history of and future opportunities from transiting planets. You'll be the go-to conversationalist when everyone else's jaws are dropping or they can only mutter, "Wow!"
5.Have some transit of Venus paraphernalia available to complement the party. If you are over 21 years old, consider chilling some Venusian ale.
6.On the day of the transit, marvel at the firmament in motion as you watch the black silhouette of Venus glide across the sun."
