Eyesight & Blurry Vision - How are we really meant to see the world?
Without contact lenses/glasses, my vision is quite blurry. I would miss being able to see gorgeous scenery through crisp and perfect vision... however, I have often wondered:

How are we really meant to see the world? Obviously, corrective lenses like the ones we have today are a relatively new invention. So then, are we meant to see the world with our own natural vision, blurry (or clear) as it may be?

Did our ancestors have better vision than we do today, or were they merely accustomed to getting through life with blurry vision?

What is the significance of our different visual conditions? Some people are 20/20, while others aren't even close, and get blurrier as the years progress. What purpose do our natural visual states serve, and are we really better off 'correcting' our vision? 2000 years ago, we didn't have to see clearly so we could drive cars, or read signs, etc. Is 'correcting' our vision just another hinderance to our natural state of being?

Are there any known natural cures/enhancements for blurry vision? If we are supposed to see in our natural ways, then why doesn't everyone have perfectly clear vision? Is there some kind of deeper meaning behind blurry vision, and having to get up close to see things properly?

Any thoughts, ideas, stories, facts, tips, or suggestions?

Re: Eyesight & Blurry Vision - How are we really meant to see the world?
i am wondering how many ancient symbols were created because people had poor eyesight? for instance, i need glasses now but haven't gotten any. so whenever i look at the moon, there is a perfect cross over the moon and a full rainbow halo around it. making the sign of the circle with the cross in it. i don't have to squint or try to see this. it's impossible for me to not see the moon in this way.

i wrote this yesterday in a different thread but it seems to fit here.
i have been wondering these same thoughts myself.

The more we use corrective lenses, the worse our eyes become. Aldous Huxley wrote an interesting book, The Art of Seeing, which advocates using eye exercises to improve vision instead of the downward spiral of corrective lenses.

I remember the first time I ever got glasses as a child, seeing the night sky and the stars clearly for the first time. It looked completely different, and I remember being shocked that the stars were tiny points of light and not good-sized, fluffy lights with halos.

I remember trying to decide whether or not I liked them better with clear vision.

I think it all started with communicating in symbols on surfaces.

Our eyes evolved under different situations, not reading on 2d surfaces.

Thank you, I will find this book.

A few years ago, I went to the eye doctor for what I decided would be the last time for long time... I got my contact prescription then ordered 6 years worth of contacts online.

I need to get a few pairs of glasses for when TSHTF though. I seriously can't see shit. Maybe some eye exercises will help.

Goodbye, halcyon days...

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory mentioned, which states that this has already happened.

I have dry eyes and that causes them to be blurry and irritated. The first eye doctor wanted me to take Restasis but I don't want to mess around with my eyeballs. You only get one set and they can't transplant an entire eyeball. I was not liking Restasis because it is cyclosporine which is an immunosuppressant. This is the same drug given to people with transplants to keep their bodies from rejecting the "foreign" organ. Anyway, went to a very well known doc that pioneered RK and Lasik surgery here in the US and he said "Just take fish oil". That simple.

That's an interesting topic...I'm 55 and have worn glasses since age 10 or so, but several times over the years I tried various self-healing techniques with no real improvement. I tried going without glasses for a year or so, while practicing eye-healing techniques, a strict vegetarian diet, yoga and twice daily meditation...no improvement. Putting glasses back on after a year was pretty wonderful...well, seeing clearly was wonderful.

Now, I have had some interesting experiences while on huge, "shamanic" doses of mushrooms. I've had several trips where I took off my glasses at some point and spent the rest of the night seeing super clearly (I mean amazingly clearly). I've lost my glasses several times out in the woods or maybe in the river next to my camp site while tripping. Unfortunately, being in society while on shamanic doses is not practical, or desired by me in any way.

These days I'm getting tons of floaters and fuzziness...

Nah, no way!

I don't think I'd ever do that.

Sometimes it's nice to have blurryass vision. It helps when having one on one conversations with people if you can't really see them that well...

chuckle

Besides I'm too curious about what's up with this whole vision thing to go permanently 'correcting' it.

Exactly!!! All of these bullshit drugs were derived from something natural anyways, why not go to source? That's why I'm wondering if anyone knows of any natural remedies.

I ask myself this very question sometimes. My vision never developed passed the 20/400 mark. No one caught the fact I couldn't see until I was 7 years of age. I recall seeing the most fantastic light visuals as a child. This also led me to develop my spatial ability as early as possible and to turn what some may view as a deficiency into a gift. How many of you have a similar experience?

I am almost jealous of all of you with your beautiful functioning eyes, yet I am quite content with my own vision.

You mean, by not being able to see clearly, you developed an acute awareness of things around you by other means ?

If that's what you mean, then yes. We see what happens when someone loses, or never has a sense of something, other senses become amplified, so a deficiency could become a strength in that case.

I have terrible eye sight and also a huge dose of snow vision. [link to en.wikipedia.org]

When I trip the visual snow turns into sacred geometry. Once, after a night of rolling balls on x that was pretty trippy, the visual snow all turned into the Yggdrasil. This was years before I had ever seen a picture of it on the Internet!

I don't do the shamanic thing anymore...but back then I did try to go without glasses the "day after", but I didn't see any better. It would be interesting to do some experiments with very small doses now, but I just don't have the connections/suppliers anymore. I really wonder what it was that allowed me to see better while tripping...lower blood pressure? Less tension/stress in the eyeballs? Maybe the brain learns to focus the input from the eyes better? I don't know...too bad Big Brother won't allow scientific study with these fungi and other psychedelics...could be the cure for poor eyesight in there somewhere...

I'm not interested in corrective surgery or getting my floaters sucked out! Yikes! Can't afford it, even if I wanted to.

Yes, I see that "sacred geometry" too. Hard to describe, but it's like I could see how "reality" is being constantly created. I've never heard of that Yggdrasil, and I've never seen it either, but I've see some amazing buildings and other things. It's all too hard to explain, and I don't want to throw this thread off with trippy stuff...MO's talking about vision in this dimension!

LOL, squinting like a retard... well that only matters if you give a shit how other people perceive your methods of perceiving your own reality.

There's a big difference between literal blindness, and just having some blurry fucked up vision.

Blindness is scary as fuck and definitely a dreadful thing... but this whole blurry vision rabbit hole is intriguing.

I have pondered much about this.

I have often wondered about cases of multiple personalities where one personality needs corrective lenses and another sees 20/20..

I have wondered why viewing through a pin hole makes things clear..

I have wondered if the brain limits vision as a protective mechanism.. and if healing the heart and the mind would produce clearer vision

Also I have wondered why in dreams your vision is clear when in reality you could be dependent on glasses or contacts.

Personally, I started needing glasses at the age of nine and I have wondered if it had anything to do with the stress in the home growing up.. as if less things were seen would reduce stress to a level one could cope with.
