One, shut the fuck up. Have you been to Ecuador? No? If you went you would see that they have all the plans laid out and are actively developing into a very advanced country. Also they have quite a bit of OIL, which provides a pretty consistent income.

Two, Correa is openly socialist/populist and he also clearly dislikes US politics. He has a lot of support from the people and has broken the record for highest approval rating after 5 or 6 years of presidency. In short, people listen to him.

Three, the latino people are very united. So who ever said they can't stand each other has no idea what they are talking about. Peru, venezuela, ecuador, bolivia, cuba, are all buddy buddy. Add in Nicaragua and a couple of other central american states as well. I went to a manu chao concert the other day and they played this song which is more or less an ode to all of latinoamerica, also openly anti-US. Everyone was singing along, cheering, hugging, man this race is strong.

Four, when they get fed up with the US, WE ARE FUCKED. Not only because they have petro reserves but also because the immense amount of agriculture is here. If they cut off their borders to us, they are also cutting off their food. We'll end up eating wheat, corn, and potatoes if that.

I think people drastically underestimate the latino american countries. I'm just saying that as the US is getting weaker, they are getting stronger. Colombia is doing fantastic, Ecuador is a new country, chile is rich as hell. Keep an eye out.
