How bad is Fukushima, really?
Prior to the Fukushima disaster, I always believed that a full scale meltdown of a nuclear reactor would result in immediate mass casualties in the thousands in the area surrounding the site with significant die off of hundreds of thousands more in the months following the event.

Fukushima involved multiple meltdowns and several hydrogen explosions. While I acknowledge that there may be an ongoing cover-up, it is clear that there was not a mass casualty event in the immediate aftermath. While many hundreds, if not thousands, have been sickened, I believe we would have gotten word if the hospitals had been swamped.

My question is, just how bad is Fukushima? Are we talking about mass casualties in the Northern hemisphere in the next year, or are we simply looking at a long term increase in cancer cases?

Re: How bad is Fukushima, really?
arent there already reports of women losing hair, children vomiting and very ill,?? fingernails falling off.. also some workers dying getting very sick from around that area

I wouldnt hope for casualties, and obviously we would see these appearing in japan far before they hit the US. but this March 11 will be the one year marker

365 days of constant release cannot be good.

UPDATE:
Thread: Fukushima women are losing their hair

Have a look at the media silence about how much radiation is hitting America.

Do you think that is because there is NO BAD EFFECTS on Americans?

I have been told by two mainstream science journalists based in the USA, that there is a total ban on reporting just how bad the situation is to Americans - let alone the poor Japs.

Think about it, you have radioactive shit pouring into the air and ocean every single day, and it is going to be that way for many years to come.

That radioactive shit is now all over the northern hemisphere, and will cause zillions of extra cancer deaths.

Would you rather be told about it and live in fear, or would you rather be told about how Katy Perry got divorced recently?

You ask how bad Fukushima is - it is almost as bad as it gets.

O.O
John works 40 hours a week at a factory job. His rate of pay is $12.00 per hour. This week he worked an additional 3.5 hours of overtime for which he is paid $18.00 per hour. If he stops at the bar on the way home and drinks up 40% of his paycheck, how long until his wife piles all his shit up on the sidewalk?

Dear AC, why do you persist in the ridiculous? If people in Japan are fine, just tell us that. Or, are you afraid of the truth?

Actually, I don't believe that any of us fully know the truth. Some of us are interested in what others who are more knowledgable have to say. Do you have knowledge that you would care to be serious about and tell us? Everything is fine and people go on with their day to day lives with no problems? Nothing to worry about. Tepco is going to fix the problem and it will all go away. Is that what you believe?

There's no question that the incidents of cancer-related illness and death will skyrocket in and around Fukushima. It doesn't appear that you have > 1 servient dosage in the area surrounding the site, otherwisse, people would be dropping like flies from radiation poisoning. While I understand that there's a media blackout, at a certain point it becomes next to impossible to cover-up mass casualties.

to kill all of us!

The majority of the fuel is still inside

up to the Ionicsphere and from Mouses up to Humans,
there are literally a million News Reports about
F'Shima and a lot of Webpages,
a "Media-Black Out " look much different!

This Weekend we had a Conference with 10.000 People,
all widely reported, Nhk showed at prime time a Fukushima Special!

Re: How bad is Fukushima, really?
Humans evolved to be afraid of things they don't understand. Most people don't understand radiation and so they are irrationally afraid of it.

They do what primitive people do to explain things they can't understand - they make up myths and fairy tales to explain and justify their fears.

At the time of Fukushima I made it clear that it wasn't a big deal, I have studied radiation and radiation poisoning prior to the incident, and was constantly told by the anti-nuclear fear-mongers that I was stupid, a shill, etc, etc.

It is hard to fight millions of years of evolution.

Try to keep that in mind when people tell you to be afraid of things - global warming, pesticides, etc, etc. You will naturally be afraid of things you don't really understand. People will use that fear to manipulate you.

Ignorance is Bliss When it Comes to Challenging Social Issues

By remaining unaware, people can justify trusting government, study finds

WASHINGTON— The less people know about important complex issues such as the economy, energy consumption and the environment, the more they want to avoid becoming well-informed, according to new research published by the American Psychological Association.
And the more urgent the issue, the more people want to remain unaware, according to a paper published online in APA’s Journal of Personality and Social Psychology®.
“These studies were designed to help understand the so-called ‘ignorance is bliss’ approach to social issues,” said author Steven Shepherd, a graduate student with the University of Waterloo in Ontario. “The findings can assist educators in addressing significant barriers to getting people involved and engaged in social issues.”
Through a series of five studies conducted in 2010 and 2011 with 511 adults in the United States and Canada, the researchers described “a chain reaction from ignorance about a subject to dependence on and trust in the government to deal with the issue.”
