actually its not a bad idea if they were given the option to do so they could leave and not only be free from jail forever
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3897523 Great idea. So when they return home, they are free from prison forever, which gives them license to kill, rob, rape, as they please. A very well thought out plan.  As opposed to soldiers who come back sane, healthy and happily productive citizens, right? You aren't making sense. Returning veterans either adjust to society, as most do, or if they commit crimes, they are arrested and tried like any other civilian. You advocated giving convicts a free pass for life if they serve in the military. Nobody gets a free pass.
