Move over Obama! Mitt Romney's eiligibility to president called into question due to possibly not being a natural born citizen!
I don't know if this has been posted already but it's pretty interesting! Here's the important snippet, lots at the link, and then the actual pages of it as well:

Update: Ballot Challenge to Mitt Romney’s Eligibility Filed in Illinois

...

George Romney came to the U.S. reportedly in the late 1920’s. However, George Romney was a Mexican citizen by birth and this is established by law in the Mexican Constitution – Chapter II:

Article 30. Mexican nationality is acquired by birth or by naturalization:

A. Mexicans by birth are:

I. Those born in the territory of the Republic, regardless of the nationality of their parents:

II. Those born in a foreign country of Mexican parents; of a Mexican father and a foreign mother; or of a Mexican mother and an unknown father.

By virtue of this law, in order for George Romney to have become a U.S. citizen he would have to be naturalized. Moreover, in order for Mitt Romney to be a Natural Born Citizen both of said candidate’s parents would have to be naturalized as U.S. citizens prior to Mitt Romney’s birth. The burden of proof falls upon said candidate to provide the necessary legal and authentic documentation to the veracity of said candidate’s parent(s) being naturalized U.S. citizens before the birth of Mitt Romney’s on March 12, 1947 in Detroit, MI.

...

I, Michael Jackson seek relief by the prohibition of Willard Mitt Romney on the U.S. Presidential ballot; for Mr. Romney to attest to the dates of his father George Romney’s U.S. naturalization with legal and authentic documentation to the veracity of such facts; that any litigation expenses plaintiff incurs will be recovered in full; moreover that my 14th Amendment rights provided in Section 1 of U.S. Constitution are not deprived nor caused to suffer injury.

I think you can pretty much guarantee Obama's people won't make an issue of this, and thus, the media will not.

I was actually hoping for Jindal or Rubio to run, since they'd almost have to make a big deal out of two guys, both born to two foreigners, running for president, but Romney's situation is a good bit more murky, so they'll just ignore it, and we'll have our first election between two debatable candidates.

Sorry to be so defeatist, but they've shut the birther movement down. The standard for natural born citizenship seems to have morphed into anyone who can remotely consider himself an American, by whatever standard he decides is appropriate.

That's only for little guys (i.e. county commissioners proving residency). The big wigs have always pulled this crap. Chester Arthur's dad was probably British and he got away with it.

I mentioned Jindal and Rubio earlier. This issue came up when they were both considering running, and the Republican establishment mercilessly mocked anyone who could possibly have questions as to their eligibility. They seem to think, as long as someone was born on American soil, or to one American parent, they're good. At least, they pretend to believe that.

I think we need to find us a 34-year-old guy who was born to two illegal aliens, and run him. We'll call it the Anchor Baby Party. Maybe, we could even run that John Walker Lindh guy, from prison, as his VP, just for shits and giggles, and see if they'll certify a dual Mexican citizen and an underage traitor.

Anyone who is a birther could latch onto this, from what I am reading, because it would seem that if his father was only a naturalized citizen and also a Mexican citizen, it is similar to the President except Obama's father was never even a citizen to begin with. Wow.

"Support the 2nd Amendment AND the assault weapon ban
I do support the Second Amendment. I would have signed the assault weapon ban that came to his desk. I said I would have supported that and signed a similar bill in our state. It was a bill worked out, by the way, between pro-gun lobby and anti-gun lobby individuals. Both sides of the issue came together and found a way to provide relaxation in licensing requirements and allow more people to--to have guns for their own legal purposes. So we signed that in Massachusetts, and I’d support that at the federal level. It did not pass at the federal level. I do not believe we need new legislation. I do not support any new legislation of an assault weapon ban nature, including that against semiautomatic weapons. We have laws in place that, if they’re implemented & enforced, will provide the protection and the safety of the American people. I do support the right of individuals to bear arms, whether for hunting purposes or for protection purposes or any other reasons. That’s the right that people have

Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
12:00AM / Thursday, July 08, 2004

Governor Mitt Romney has signed into law a permanent assault weapons ban that he says will make it harder for criminals to get their hands on these guns.

Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts, Romney said, at a bill signing ceremony on July 1 with legislators, sportsmenâ's groups and gun safety advocates. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.

Re: Move over Obama! Mitt Romney's eiligibility to president called into question due to possibly not being a natural born citizen!
I think the person who filed this is trying to make a point. Someone comes forward to show that Mitt's mother and father were citizens prior to Mitt's birth. Therefore Mitt is a natural born citizen.

Regardless of where George Romney was born,Mitt was born in Detroit. Romney SR. also ran for POTUS,This isnt a birther issue. George Romney's parents were American Citizens, much different than Obama's alleged Kenyan Birth with a Kenyan father.

When Americans give birth abroad, the US recognizes the children as Natural born, provided both the parents are US citizens.

I think what the person who filed this is requesting the time frame when Mitt's father did become a US citizen, was it before or after Mitt's birth?

It doesnt matter, Mitt was born in the US to US parents, even if just his mother was a citizen so it is moot. ever hear of anchor babies? same thing.

George Romney's parents were both American as well, just because they were abroad doesnt disqualify his citizenship.

If your parents are in the Army in Germany for example, and you are born, you are still a natural born citizen as far as the State dept. is concerned.

Back when Mitt and Barack were born, citizenship was not automatic to children born outside of the country. Those children had to be naturalized, which meant that they could NOT be natural born citizens.

Wrong, John McCain was born in Panama, he was eligible.

This is much different than the Obama situation, where some say he was born out of the US to a non-US parent.
