Folks, you are all doing great work here keeping this topic alive.

As OP, (no egos here), I would like to thank you all for your contributions, all of which have been beneficial.

More importantly, it is most notable and totally commendable that there has been a complete absence of abusive language or insult since this thread began and that has to be an absolute plus for which I salute you all.

Clearly everyone that has either read or contributed here has a passion and genuine interest in something as important as this topic is.

In the land of Aus it is now way past the time when I might wake up a monster tomorrow, so, well the hope of beauty sleep is a long gone fantasy, never the less I do have a need for sleep.

So, with that thought I implore you all as the planet continues to spin , please add your thoughts and feelings.

Just to prod some direction I would personally love to hear suggestions and comments that might be somewhat futureistic in nature that might stimulate further thought and comment on how we as an internet community might be able to move into fresh and new areas of ways that we might be able to bring about beneficial and peaceful change to the world we live in...I am certain that this time is now right on our collective doorsteps, all we need to do now is recognise it, throw the ideas into the mix and see where the the cream floats to the top.

I am being totally selfish here but I dream of a new start, for a world of peace, equality and happiness and harmony for all, and I honestly believe the we can make that happen within a very short time from today.

Please dream and think about those things too, it wont hurt anyone.

I'll be back tomorrow, probably to a lot of black sites, but that will be good.

Till then be safe, live well and find peace.

One idea that's been kicked around in prepper circles is a kind of information forwarding service in case of a national disaster. You send a message to someone else within a local area and they hand it off on their device like a relay runner handing off a baton. Such a system would be very slow, but could encrypt the information, and everyone with those kinds of devices would pass them along. In that kind of system, you'd upload your encrypted email in many local areas for redundancy.

Other ideas are disguised memory sticks in key locations for downloading information and spreading it that way. Only people who know where they are and when to look could get the information.

I would like to see Facebook, Myspace, GLP, and all other social media websites. I think if you are against SOPA than you must make some kind of sacrifice to stand your ground and say "WE WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS"! One day is not going to kill us but it will hurt those and send a strong message to those who support SOPA.

Is there an updated list of who will blackout?

I wonder how much work production will go up for the day as people can't waste most of it on these sites? I think this is a great thing that these larger sites are going to partake in the blackout...you can feel the uprising stirring.

There needs to be a website that actually stays open and dedicated to the public where people can come and leave comments and get information about SOPA.



The blackout will effect many sites, and potentially alternative media sources as well (and that's the whole point of it)...but to keep something open where people can come and read about whats going on and learn more about how their are losing their rights, etc....a "gathering" place or little internet watercooler we can all come to in order to get information and see what has been planned as the protest grows.

Isn't that what SOPA wants? To silence websites? Why do it for them? Doesn't seem like much of an effective way to protest if that's what they want to begin with.

So with that in mind I am going to ask for some help to get a new social web site going called "WATERCOOLER" and if you would like to go back and read what my general aspirations are, I think you and other readers will get the idea of what that site will be about.

I need help...

I have built a very amateurish web site before but nothing that could or would be capable of going where this will need to go...so please if you have skills and are prepared to help...designers, moderators..etc.

eventually the whole big picture, then that is my ambition and Im prepared to work to launch and co-ordinate it all, it'll be a huge buzz and just maybe we'll bring about some worthwhile and valuable change here and there, its worth a try...so

I think the participating websites are hoping that a blackout would bring awareness since there are a whole lot of people out there who have never even heard of SOPA. They're thinking that the protest generated by the blackout will be so loud that Washington can't ignore it.

I have no idea whether a blackout would work or not, but I'm pretty sure that's the idea behind it.

Thanks for the good words, but put down the crack pipe. The internet is no more capable of fixing social issues than fighting it out in the streets is. Not sure where this utopian result you envision is gonna come from. It's not the internet. If anything the internet allows some level of anonymity, which promotes and has increased hate speech, and general hostile interactions. You haven't noticed this? Being anonymous is the facilitator for massively aggressive and rude interactions, not social healing.

When I said watercooler earlier I think that would just be the "meeting" point for various groups of people who would want to protest on a higher level (outside the internet). I wouldn't really actually want to be in charge of it...as I would not want that responsibility or potential backlash/danger from government officials (sounds bad and hypocritical of someone who firmly believes in this protest, I am just too young and not knowledgeable enough to have that responsibility)...However, the OP liked the idea and maybe there are some people on this thread who would be interested in taking charge.


I do however feel as a citizen, that if I wanted information for possible news articles, or actual physical meeting places such as the occupy protests, it would be good to have a place to look...



Obviously the msm (Fox, ABC, etc) won't 100% support this as they risk problems for supporting it...the alternative media mainstream will have to step up and take charge, finally giving themselves a one up on all of the msm sites who all just get information filtered down from government controlled sources. Its their time now :) Lets make the best of it!


I think many of the problems we are facing today should also be posted on these sites that are streaming information about the blackout (flouride, chemtrails, electromagnetic field radiation, GMO's, etc.). People are going to start questioning the truth more now than ever, lets give them what they never wanted to see...
