Folks, you are all doing great work here keeping this topic alive.

As OP, (no egos here), I would like to thank you all for your contributions, all of which have been beneficial.

More importantly, it is most notable and totally commendable that there has been a complete absence of abusive language or insult since this thread began and that has to be an absolute plus for which I salute you all.

Clearly everyone that has either read or contributed here has a passion and genuine interest in something as important as this topic is.

In the land of Aus it is now way past the time when I might wake up a monster tomorrow, so, well the hope of beauty sleep is a long gone fantasy, never the less I do have a need for sleep.

So, with that thought I implore you all as the planet continues to spin , please add your thoughts and feelings.

Just to prod some direction I would personally love to hear suggestions and comments that might be somewhat futureistic in nature that might stimulate further thought and comment on how we as an internet community might be able to move into fresh and new areas of ways that we might be able to bring about beneficial and peaceful change to the world we live in...I am certain that this time is now right on our collective doorsteps, all we need to do now is recognise it, throw the ideas into the mix and see where the the cream floats to the top.

I am being totally selfish here but I dream of a new start, for a world of peace, equality and happiness and harmony for all, and I honestly believe the we can make that happen within a very short time from today.

Please dream and think about those things too, it wont hurt anyone.

I'll be back tomorrow, probably to a lot of black sites, but that will be good.

Till then be safe, live well and find peace.

in addition to the telephone numbers, in the post above this one I gave a link to a thread about sites participating in this "blackout" to post links/articles/pdfs to other things that are held back from the public (ie. flouride, chemtrails, etc.) Let people start to make educated conclusions when all the information is in one place AND they are now pissed off because they were in the dark for so long as they probably were unaware of the blackout in the first place.

I can't imagine the uprising if Google joined and Gmail was down for a day...do you know how many businesses use this on an hourly basis for communication!?

Thats not the point at all. Its to shake people up to what will happen to these sites if some of the laws continue to pass through the government. They are trying to wake up and alert the general public of how much the government controls/could control various sources of information.

Make people hurt a little...might make them less passive and ignorant on laws being passed...

So, really, those of you who want websites to shut down in "protest" really just want to piss a bunch of people like yourselves off?

Because this has nothing to do with protesting against the government.

If you were protesting AGAINST the government, you would keep your website UP, since you know, they WANT to take it down?? You know?? HELLO??

No, but you people are too selfish and too self-absorbed and are the same as the clueless idiots on OWS who spout off about police brutality, wanting people to get ANGRY with them, rather than HANDLE THEIR BUSINESS.

It's propaganda. Mass propaganda. By definition. It is intended to get an emotional response from the PEOPLE, not the government.

You people are either DUMB or shills... or both.rant

Re: >>>Wikipedia has put up its "Blackout" protest sign. <<<
ok folks...
had to do a complete reformat for some weird reason , but Im back now and have had a quick look at the general direction that this thread has been tending to.

a couple of thoughts

It seems like there are a few posters on here that are having a few issues with the blackout protests
They for the most seem to feel like these type of actions are pretty worthless, the attitude could be best summed up as..what will it do..we are just little insignificant no-bodies that cant make any real difference!

well, just to give some of those folks some positive encouragement I think that they might find some really excellent examples of just what can happen when people get together in numbers even if it is on the internet as individuals and alighn themselves to a common cause.

For the most recent and dramatic examples here I think a quick look at what has happened to the governments in Lybia, Egypt, etc, etc might be a good place to start.

We really do live in a new world and the old regimes and their repressive ways are rapidly becoming a thing of the past.

This even extends to this simple protest.

All you have to do is to imagine what the world would be like if say internet speeds were slowed to a tenth of where they are today.

World commerce would pretty quickly grind into another GFC, and that would just be the start of things.

we live in an instantaneous world these days, if you had to wait for even an hour to get an email, or place a bid on EBAY these days, you'd be totally lost...so yes this protest has real depth and significance.

That is why I pushed this thread, and will continue to do so, there are those that can see a little into the future and the one thing that will absolutely destroy the internet is any form of censorship.
 Quoting: arkay

The people making these laws don't care if these sites go black in protest. The federal government of the United States doesn't care if its people protest in the streets.

Sorry, but it is not wise to expend large amounts of energy and focus on worthless protest gestures.

When I said watercooler earlier I think that would just be the "meeting" point for various groups of people who would want to protest on a higher level (outside the internet). I wouldn't really actually want to be in charge of it...as I would not want that responsibility or potential backlash/danger from government officials (sounds bad and hypocritical of someone who firmly believes in this protest, I am just too young and not knowledgeable enough to have that responsibility)...However, the OP liked the idea and maybe there are some people on this thread who would be interested in taking charge.

I do however feel as a citizen, that if I wanted information for possible news articles, or actual physical meeting places such as the occupy protests, it would be good to have a place to look...

Obviously the msm (Fox, ABC, etc) won't 100% support this as they risk problems for supporting it...the alternative media mainstream will have to step up and take charge, finally giving themselves a one up on all of the msm sites who all just get information filtered down from government controlled sources. Its their time now :) Lets make the best of it!

I think many of the problems we are facing today should also be posted on these sites that are streaming information about the blackout (flouride, chemtrails, electromagnetic field radiation, GMO's, etc.). People are going to start questioning the truth more now than ever, lets give them what they never wanted to see...
