Thanks for the vote.

Trinity posted earlier that GLP would follow suit, but so far nothing here yet.

thanks for the "silent" 5*'s whoever you are, very kind.

There were other bigish sites also suggesting that they were going to throw their weight behind the protest too.

It will be interresting to see if they do.

We're fucking worms in the ground for all the TPTB cares. Am I not a man, a human being, made of the same flesh and blood as the next person beside me or reading this?

I'm sick of what we live in.

That's my rant for the day.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I'd like to go quietly in my sleep, like grandpa did. Not screaming in terror like the people in the back seat of the car he was driving.

If this happens I wouldn't be surprised if that's when the war with Iran starts; the MSM won't report it until the White House tells them they can and a lot of alternative news sources will be down.

The way I understand THIS protest is that it thats place in about 24-25 hours from now.

Im not sure if there any plans for anything else of significance in that timeframe.

Except that TPTB would love us to go black - permanently

so, how is giving them something they want a protest against them?

There was a lot of skuttlebut around earlier today with lots of people either calling for or suggesting that sites like Twitter, FB, etc might also be going to join in with this protest against what amounts to internet censorship.

And whether or not the original intent of this legislation might be something else.

As always, what it will amount to sooner or later is the "thin end of the wedge".

Governments never repeal legislation, all they ever do is add to it and strengthen it, with the resulting effect of more loss of freedoms for everyone.

BTW thanks for all the 5* votes, the support is very humbling.

Has anyone else yet seen any evidence of other sites putting up notices of blackouts tomorrow in this protest?

There was at least one big social site that was a definite, I just cant remember which one it was at the moment, anyone else read those comments here on GLP?

I know that the thread I was reading was the one that Trinity commented on that GLP would be going black along with the others.

Just found one of the threads, but it only got the one post.

Linked below, but it shows the others who appatently were going to be joining in.

The fact that the thread stalled so quickly might mean that the list of "protestors" might not have been totally credible, also there is no refrence to where the info came from, so Id be taking this one with a bit of scepticism.

In the mean time I'll keep looking

heres that link anyway

On a lighter side.

When I first started this thread, I clicked the "suggest pin" link, as you do!

But now that I think about it, well if GLP goes black, whos going to see whats happening, pinned or not?

hehe, just my silly logic.

But it might still be a worthwhile suggestion, theres a lot of good debate that could be had here about "freedom of speech and expression", and a myriad of other similar totally appropriate and associated topics.

Im thinking the erosion of the rights of ordinary people, oppression by government controls even in the so called "free" world.

The ever increasing dominance and intrusion by the people whom WE elect to carry out what is supposed to be what we want them to do for us, etc, etc.

We are all heading at various speeds into becoming nanny states and the deeper we go the harder it will be to return.

How long will it be now before we are forced to be implanted with RFID chips?

Am I ranting...sorry.

Well at this stage we are beginning to get a list, I wonder where it will end, one thing is for sure, there will be a lot of people taking a lot of notice of this.

So at this stage the list is...

[link to www.reddit.com]

[link to www.ufo-blogger.com]

and yet to be totally confirmed our own beloved GLP

Ive just noticed, this has been pinned.

To whomever or however this has happened, its my first and I am humbled.

Thank you.

I can only hope that the front page presence of this thread will bring a lot of good debate on internet freedoms/ censorship, and of human rights in general.

After all in one way or another they are all related.

That is precisely why I personally believe so passionately in this protest.

It is absolutely imperative that we protect our rights and the way WE chose to live and enjoy our lives.

If anything, the recent and recurring GFC is an extremely clear demonstration of how quickly things devolve when left to just a few with tunnel vision and selfish motives.
