ATOM User ID: 2506249 United States 01/18/2012 10:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have a LOT of pent up anger, from a few social-related events that had transpired over the course of 2011. Now I'm 100% straight, but when I would repress this anger I started talking and acting kinda like a pansy (my friends thought I was gay, lol), and when I go along with it I get to the point where I have to stop because I want to start primal screaming and go into a violent spasm of destruction. Quoting: WTF_is_a_Moniker So yeah, any techniques in getting rid of anger? I'm open minded, infact any metaphysical advice or even discussion on the nature of anger would be appreciated. When I got divorced I was so mad I couldn't see straight. I found that hardcore weight training got it out. I gained 30lbs of muscle mass in 18mos. and felt great. On the downside I was eating 4,000+ calories a day and I got a gut from it. It was worth it though - as it got rid of the rage. |

WTF_is_a_Moniker (OP) User ID: 9106955 Australia 01/18/2012 11:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks, I'll try channeling it into excercise and see how that goes. What somebody said about not being able to see straight, do you mean that literally? Because my vision is not what it used to be, as in I'm often not paying attention to what im looking at because of these feelings... my eyes will often glaze over as a result... I dont feel as in touch with reality because I find it hard not to project these irrational feelings, irrational in that the time to be angry has gone but I just cant let go |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 6504952 United States 01/18/2012 11:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Write out all of the details of what upsets you. Write all of your feelings regarding that incident on the paper. Write out your heart and soul. Buy a helium balloon. Tie the string of the balloon tightly around the paper with all of your anguish on it. Light the paper with a match or lighter then let the balloon go. Watch the flaming misery rise into the air. Watch it leave you. No longer can those painful memories keep hold of you. This symbolic ceremony of letting go of the pain will lighten your heart. Just let it go literally as you watch the balloon and your burning paper (pain and troubles) rise up into the air and disappear. |

After you try this therapy, please post a note here to let me know the results. Please compare how you feel afterwards. I'll be checking back on this thread. This is not a joke, but a real therapy. I agree with the other posters about the exercise, but I believe you urgently need to release your painful feelings. Writing them out will make a big difference. No one ever need to know what was on that paper. Burning it up will ensure that no one ever will read what was written. You are releasing your bad feelings and anger toward yourself. This is symbolic of forgiveness and freeing of your soul. You can then start fresh. |
