I've heard the sounds in TN before, but not recently.

Re: Anyone else hear "the sound" in OH?
I know I'm getting to this late but I'm not on much and until recently hadn't realized what I experienced on New Year's Eve wasn't an isolated incident. It was approx. 10pm in Donellsville, OH (about 15-20 miles from metro Dayton)myself and several of my friends heard a distant roar combined with a whooshing sound sort of like what you get when a strong gust of wind approaches through distant trees. Having grown up with WPAFB primary airfields literally in my back yard and my experience while serving with the 101st out of Ft. Campbell I can tell you this was no aircraft. At least not one I have ever heard. Also, as Donellsville is a farming community we are far enough from any metropolitan or industrial area that it is unlikely to have been any conventional man made cause I can think of. The next day I did see that there was a rare 4.0 + mag EQ in Youngstown a couple hours to the north at roughly the same time... however the distance between our locations caused me to believe them to be unrelated.

This was only a curiosity to myself and my friends on NYE, yet now that I have seen an outbreak of eerily similar stories worldwide I find it unsettling. Anyone else experience this "sound" on NYE? Thanks in advance for your reply!

Near New Carlisle here, OP. I heard it twice earlier this week. One morning at 1 AM, and the next morning. You described it to a "T."

Hey Neighbor! I actually grew up in Park Layne right outside of New Carlisle and I stopped to pick a friend up there on my way to Donnelsvile NYE! Since you are only like ten minutes from there did you notice anything that night? Unfortunately I live in Fairborn between the train tracks and the Wright Patt airfields so any strange noises are pretty much drowned out on a normal day.
P.S. It's nice to have someone from the area on so I can stop arguing with retards about the existence of the town due to my poor spelling, lol.

Anyone else hear the strange rumbling in the sky around 1AM last night? North of Dayton here.

I'm north of Dayton. I actually went to bed early last night. But.....I got up at 1 because my dog was barking. I didn't figure out why...he didnt want to go outside. He is old, so he does weird things. But usually when he barks at night it is because he has to pee. Interesting.

It was about 1 or 1:30 AM. I had just gone to bed. I heard it in my bedroom. It was definitely like a grumbling. I went outside, it was very loud. Almost like a huge wind, but it was only a little breezy.

Here is another thread I had mentioned it on.

I'm not getting the link, Dayton. I work on Springfield St., but it's a factory so we don't hear much of anything while there...
