The capitol building was rebuilt in the first have of the 1800's after britain handed us our asses in 1812 and burned it and much else in the way of governmental buildings to the ground.

Explain this: Why was this painted in the dome of the capital. The painting is full of Greek gods and goddeses and other fictional characters. Washington is clad in masonic garb. At the time thee frieze was painted, the original Spanish explorers were all the rage. Notice there are no depictions of French or English explorers until John Smith who settled an area.
