Lake Vostok and Rainbow City are in the same location!!!!!

The 18th ish. Maybe the Russians miscalculated how much further they had to go and don't want to admit defeat. It is just so odd that no word has come yet on what they are doing.

Thanks for the link. I just finished watching it and enjoyed the progress the various scientists had made up to that time (five years ago?). I was disappointed no mention was made of the magnetic anomaly or the huge air bubbles found in some areas of the ice. Maybe these features weren't well known at the time this BBC documentary was produced.

I don't know much about the magnetosphere. We are told it protects us from the damaging rays of the sun. Do we really know if this is true?

The geomagnetic south pole is believed to be involved in the propagation of these magnetic lines. Vostok area is the location of the geomagnetic south pole. A massive magnetic anomaly is known to exist under the Antarctic ice in the warm waters of Lake Vostok.

Here's some wild speculation. I wonder if this metal mass is actually technology from an ancient time and is generating the matrix that imprisons our DNA (i.e. magnetosphere equals matrix).

Perhaps TPTB (descendents of the ancient priests/scientists/rulers) were aware that their technology would expire soon.

With the drilling project, they somehow re-powered the technology and the Google doodle let insiders know the energy field (giant snowflake) was intact.

Of course that doesn't explain why they've not released news (even fake news) about the ice breach that was imminent on January 18.

There was also that strange object found floating on an iceberg near the south pole last year - another message?

Regarding Hollow earth theory.I would like to bring up a nuclear test conducted over the north pole, only two years later, the radioactive isotopes to this specific explosion was identified at the south pole, but nowhere in between...

Thank you - that is most interesting! Several videos are posted on the thread; I thought the best one was the first embedded by the OP (can start viewing around 2:30 min.). It was taken from webcam shots at a south polar station on January 17 2012, exactly the time frame we are discussing.

It looks like a high tech amphibious ship/plane to me. How can anyone explain the clear dome on top of this object?

Are you sure it's a theory? I read somewhere that they determined the massacon was a round-shaped object (from the radar and imaging).

Can you share a little more on "there so much more to this"; many of us are super curious! What do you think is happening or has happened at the drilling site?

Yes, here is the link [link to blogs.abc.net.au] I see the story was published Jan. 24, 2011, so if they found it a few days prior .... would make it almost exactly a year from this year's anticipated breach at Vostok.

Various internet photo "experts" at the time thought it might be metal, not wood. Again, seems like it could be a message for those "in the know".
