Where the fuck does "worry" and "fear" compute into this whatsoever?

IT'S NOT ABOUT WORRY.

IT'S NOT ABOUT FEAR.

IT'S ABOUT KNOWING HOW INTERESTING IT IS THAT A PARASITE ACTUALLY MIND CONTROLS YOU TO WANT A CAT.

Why is that so fucking hard for you people to grasp?

It ain't just you, it's SEVERAL people who have posted on this thread, and even people in real life that I've told about this.

It's like they're fucking ignorant and can't grasp that it's a REAL THING.

Pretty fucking annoying honestly.

No it's NOT ABOUT FEAR OR WORRY.

YES, I do LOVE CATS.

All that is beside the fucking point.

THE POINT is that it's a parasite THAT MIND CONTROLS YOU to WANT a CAT.

"In particular, humans with latent infections of the common protozoan parasite Toxoplasma gondii appear to experience a variety of long-term personality changes. For instance, in infected women, intelligence, superego strength (rule-conscious, dutiful, conscientious, conforming, moralistic, staid and rule-bound) and affectothymia (warm, outgoing, attentive to others, kindly, easy-going, participating and likes people) are higher, while infected men have lower intelligence, superego strength and novelty-seeking (low novelty-seeking indicates rigid, loyal, stoic, slow-tempered and frugal personalities); both infected men and women have higher levels of guilt-proneness (they tend to be more apprehensive, self-doubting, worried, guilt prone, insecure, worrying and self-blaming."

An incredibly relevant bump and news article here, thanks so much for sharing.

There are a lot of ways to interpret that info right there! I have two ways...

1. If the woman doesn't own a cat, then she needs to get one, since it's a conundrum for the parasite that doesn't want to kill the cat's caretaker.

2. I did say earlier in this thread that the purpose of the parasite is to be consumed by a cat so that it can reproduce... so basically it *wants* your dead body to be eaten by a cat.

Possibility Two strikes an eerie chord in me... but we would all want to take solace in believing Possibility One.

I always think of that first Stargate movie with Kurt Russell and the goa'uld.
How the organism is in their brains and makes them evil.
And they are ancient Egyptian like people to which somewhat in my mind links the cat thing.
Tell me the writer of that didn't know something?

Then I think of how they have found parasites 2 miles inside the Earth and inside freezing ice that can survive living on a meteor living and flourishing.

There could be literally thousands of people walking around you everyday.
With different types of these organisms inside their brains.
Worse than Toxo Gondii, unknown types.
That make them totally different to the usual human race.
I believe if a meteor crashed to earth tomorrow with some kind of organism on it that could survive.
The whole of this planet could be massively changed by it in 100 years or so.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6021166

Yeah, and they're about to drill into that ice and release it to the entire planet. Pretty damn brilliant.

The next big thing in parasite-human mind control crashlanded from a meteor...

Hmm.

Say.

Maybe that's how the toxoplasmosis parasite got here? Only maybe it didn't crash... maybe it traveled in a space ship. CAT PEOPLE.

Yep, I mean it's already on this thread and other threads on here but basically...

Ancient Egyptians worshipped cats... went to extreme lengths to honor cats. Sounds like they all had toxoplasmosis to me, and maybe given to them straight from the source...

There are hieroglyphs that depict air travel and spaceships.

There are unexplained things, like for example, Nefertiti disappeared without a trace, where could she have gone? Into space, maybe? With the cat gods?

If you think it's impossible, take a look at the Hubble Ultra Deep Field and ponder that shit for a good while.

Re: How Cats Control You with a Parasite - Toxoplasmosis and Its Effects
Just found this thread. Haven't read through the entire thing as I don't have the time right now.

Several years ago my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's.

While doing research on the net for the PD .. one thing lead to another and somehow I came across Toxoplasmosis.

I decided to take an informal poll on a PD forum just to see how many people who were dx w/PD had cats. Out of 18 people who responded, maybe 15 had cats.

I was sure I was onto something but for whatever reason ended up dropping my research.

My husband had a cat for close to 11 years. He is nearly totally bald and would get these small breakouts on his head and pick at them till they bled. Eventually they would reach the size where it looked like a small bullet hole. They didn't last long but it seemed to be a routine.

BTW, he no longer has the cat.

I was dumbfounded by some of the info I came across while reading about Toxoplasmosis.

Thanks for the thread.. and I'm bumping just to see what evolves. bump

Re: How Cats Control You with a Parasite - Toxoplasmosis and Its Effects
First, let me preface this by saying that I love pets. They offer us affection, when sometimes we're pretty unlovable. They don't require much, not really, especially cats.

If you're feeling lonesome, there's a lot of abandoned animals. While some may have been abused by their former owner, or abandoned entirely and left to fend for themselves, on occasion because of the economy people must make sacrifices. This means that a lot get turned over to the Human Society, and the other may get picked up as strays.

Probably less than 10% get picked up, so they freeze or starve to death.

If you're on a limited budget, and a pedigree isn't important to you, why not consider adopting one of these creatures instead?

I think you'll get a lot more from the relationship that you might imagine. Often there can be very real tenderness. It shows on rare occasions from cats because there is a wildness in them. It's their instinct, even if there's been 20 of their ancestors living in homes.

They aren't dogs, and so you have to adapt to that. People tend to like a pet that's like them. If you're more independent, you might like a cat instead.

However, if you are immune compromised in any way, I'd think twice about having a cat. If you're given to depression, same thing. If you're allergic, same thing. If you're poor and struggling, sorry...same thing. Your finances might get worse, and all we need is another stray.

This illness is very real. It is documented. While there always is a lot of hype, there is a genuine phenomena of disease among cat owners, mostly because of poor or negligent hygiene. A little precautions, and common sense would eliminate half of that concern.

In a collapse situation, a lot of people will abandon their pets. Of course they will if food is scarce. In a collapse people will have to grow food, and because cats will naturally deposit their fecal matter in yards, and that's the vector by which transmission takes place, then you either have to make a lot of careful planning, or not have a cat.

If you're a wise person, you don't make a cat live like a human being. They aren't human beings. If you expect them to act like a human being, who is foolish, you or the cat?

A cat NEEDS to hunt. It is their nature. It is good for them to maintain their claws, learn to be outside, but not roam the neighborhood. A dog is not allowed to roam, so a cat should also not roam. It's rude.

Letting them hunt keeps up their predatory skills. Many homes have mice, you just don't see them. A lot of people have crickets too. Cats will hunt both, and also other insects and rodents because of instinct. This is a very good thing to allow even if you're a vegetarian. They are not vegetarian; they are hunters. They probably won't eat them, but might certainly kill them, or maim them.

They are killers. We ignore that because many of us are killers too. Yes, all humans kill other species to live, plant and animal. Get over it.

If there's a severe downturn in the economy, which is highly likely, then if your cats can still hunt field mice, which are very very common as well as chipmunks, voles, and other rodents, then they can stay alive even if you can't feed them.

Do what's best for your pet, if you love them.

If they're old and arthritic, then naturally they can't. But even old cats are smart and can catch mice. In fact, some of them will be happy and proud that they did catch one. That's why they bite off the head and leave it on your doorstep as a trophy. Is it weird? Yeah. Are human behaviors weird? Yeah.

Most cats are terribly bored. Imagine sitting all day long waiting for you to come home. You can only sleep so much. The more they do that, the more perturbed and nervous and fat they get. This is very bad for them. You're not giving them the stimulation that all creatures need. Maybe that's why they're so independent and aloof.

How would you like to sit in a room all day long and do nothing? Hmmm, that's a prison, isn't it? It's cruel. If you can't take the time to help them remove their cat hair that would fall out much more frequently with activity, play with them, teach them tricks, cuddle with them, then they become a paperweight. That's really cruel.

A kitten needs even more stimulation. Stimulation encourages dendrites in the brain so their neurons make connections and develops.

So take toxoplasmosis seriously, and don't get a cat for the reasons above, but if you do get a cat, take care of them and raise them so they still stay a cat.

What an adorable kitta!
I will be totally blunt. I love cats. I
feel that threads like this one serve only
to perpetuate ABUSE to animals, and NOT
to inform anyone about a so called "disease!"

I have a number to links you may check out
if you really WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH about
this "invented" illness meant to bash
cat lovers. By the way....DOGS CAN GET
THIS invented disease, too.

Mainly I want to say...FOLLOW THE MONEY.
The combined ownership as of 2012 of dogs
and cats in the u.s.a. is 150 million...and
climbing. The average vet will charge you
MINIUMUM of $100 per animal to just give
a short exam...TESTS CAN RUN into the 100's
of dollars.
Now you figure the vets are going to recommend
pet owners have their cats/dogs check 2 times
per year....what kind of money EVERY 12 MONTHS
if every cat/dog owner complied with a Toxo-
plasmosis examination test?

2 exams/yer = 300 million vet visits/tests.
Lets say the $100 office charge PLUS THE TEST
is $200.00 (which is a low guess) you'll get:

$200 X 300 million = $600,000,000 PER YEAR
vets and BIG PHARMA would enjoy by introducing
a "new cat/dog disease threat!" I don't
know about you...but that looks a little bit like
an INCENTIVE to me!
Remember, anyone getting freaked out by this
"disease NEWS"....THE TOXOPLASMOSIS DISEASE
THEORY WAS PRESENTED IN 1908...WE ARE TALKING
104 YEARS WORTH OF OPPORTUNITY TO SPREAD....
YET, I'VE NOT HEARD ABOUT THIS UNTIL 2012?
Hmmmm......I think if this were a real threat
it would have been covered seriously by now.

I CALL MAJOR B.S. and it's coming AGAIN from
Big Pharma to pull more dollars out of your pockets!
Here are some links:

Background--discovered in 1908. Primary analysis now Brazil.

Cat populations

Dogs can get it too
[link to www.petplace.com]

Facts about pets abandoned or surrendered:
[link to www.aspca.org]

•Approximately 5 million to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats). Shelter intakes are about evenly divided between those animals relinquished by owners and those picked up by animal control. These are national estimates; the percentage of euthanasia may vary from state to state.

•According to the National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy (NCPPSP), less than 2 percent of cats and only 15 to 20 percent of dogs are returned to their owners. Most of these were identified with tags, tattoos or microchips.

•Twenty-five percent of dogs who enter local shelters are purebred. (Source: NCPPSP)

•Only 10 percent of the animals received by shelters have been spayed or neutered, while 78 percent of pet dogs and 88 percent of pet cats are spayed or neutered, according to the American Pet Products Association (Source: APPA).

•More than 20 percent of people who leave dogs in shelters adopted them from a shelter. (Source: NCPPSP

Anyways, I am NOT BUYING this "I am controlled by
a disease I got from a cat/dog." Figure out something
more believable. I'm sure Big Pharma will be parading
some new disease passed you soon--wait for that one!
Cheers!
