Why would he have to go into your house to look at a shed in the backyard? Was there no other way to get to your backyard except through your house?

Besides that, it was terrible weather so he really didn't want to get outside in the yard. Now he could view it from the scullery. Yes wives can be too nice and accommodating. Really though this is exactly how people find themselves in a jackpot with a home invasion or a future break and enter. Dogs are good, but now he knows you have a dog......... nothing a shot of mace in the face won't cure, no shooting necessary. It probably was a nerd from some lands branch of government concerned about building permits and taxes, but next time it could be a different story. Hopefully you have read the riot act to your wife and told her to quit being so naive and nice to strangers.
