As to the flashing and seeing in the dark, nor is this that unusual - I have exactly the same colour eyes, I see exceptionally well in the dark and I always come out with red eyes in photographs, or with the light reflecting through the white parts, depending on the angle. Its probably just a certain type of eye that's all.
