Iodine Allergy, What is an Alternative??
I have iodine tabs for water purification. The husband can take them, but I have an allergy to contrast iodine and I am afraid to ingest it. Topical iodine does not bother me.

Anyone know of any alternatives besides bleach?

iodine is needed and utilized by humans---you do know you have a problem with contrast media not the iodine.

could you put a small bit on your forearm as a patch test and see what happens ?

only alternative i can think of is a good water filtration system,
boiling it-
but do a search for water purification and see what u find and bleach is not the end of the world either.

few family members had the opposite happen--absolutely no allergies to iodine/shellfish and one helluva reaction to that contrast dye.

no I didn't know that, I thought it was contrast iodine. Whenever I am asked about allergies I state this and am never corrected so I thought that was it. I don't know what the difference is...

I can ingest shellfish but do get a very slight reaction, not enough to make me stop eating it though. It is ever so slight.

Thank you for your help., good suggestion about the filtration.

Allergy's are a overreaction of the body, this happens always to your best as the immunesystem is weak.

Try to improve your immunesystem and i tell you it will get better.

I like to use a small water filter instead of iodine tabs.

They filter out all the bacteria and virus that could be in the water.

This. Start taking at least a very good multi vitamin.

I like ola loa vitamin powder. Most of the multivitamins off the shelves are useless. Many of the ingredients are the type your body can process and the pills don't even always get fully dissolved.

Re: Iodine Allergy, What is an Alternative??
Iodine allergies are a misnomer. What actually is going on is a detox reaction from bromine/flourine/clorine being expelled.

Additionally, some are more sensitive to iodine and will experience a tightness in the throat area shortly after consuming iodine from their thyroid. It's a type of pseudo-goiter. Either way, I'd suggest reading up on supplementing iodine at minimal dosing to overcome this. It's a sure sign of hormone trouble ahead (and other illnesses).
