Tears In Sleep

All night the cocks crew, under a moon like day,
And I, in the cage of sleep, on a stranger's breast,
Shed tears, like a task not to be put away---
In the false light, false grief in my happy bed,
A labor of tears, set against joy's undoing.
I would not wake at your word, I had tears to say.
I clung to the bars of the dream and they were said,
And pain's derisive hand had given me rest
From the night giving off flames, and the dark renewing.

I am beyond incredulous that you would even ask such a question.

I suppose that that would depend on what you're being incredulous about, and then who's to say what's right and what's wrong anyway.

Re: Am I wrong for being incredulous?
Nothing wrong with being incredulous. Nothing wrong with being credulous either, for that matter.

Something I read that made a large impression upon me:

Beliefs are like stones on a mountain - we tread upon them as we climb to the peak. But when we discover a stone that has particularly helped in the climb, we decide to carry it upon our back in the hopes that it will help us again later. Soon we are so burdened with stones that we abandon the climb.

When one is free from the personal image of himself and his beliefs, he is free to believe everything and believe nothing simultaneously. To leave the stones where they lie, and continue the climb unfettered.

When it comes down to it, what we believe is pretty insignificant - the mountain does not in any way require the "belief" of our personality in order to exist and function.
