Re: In your opinion, what withdrawal symptoms are the worst?
What I have quit after moderate medium long term use in my 39 years
Adderall
Cocaine
Meth
paxil
xanax
Alcohol

What I cant quit ..cigs

Worst withdrawls
paxil
and xanax
Tied

The rest not that bad except first 4 days off meth and adderall
Day after coke cravings are annoying

But paxil omfg never again that was hell and I had no clue how nutty I would get post xanax

And it took much longer to feel better after paxil and xanax then all others combined

Cept for the flipping cigs ...i can not quit nicotine lol

Methadone, cold turkey. The diarrhea did not start until day 12, that is when it got REALLY bad.

I have since developed an herbal protocol for opiate and benzo withdrawal. Benzos still require MD supervision... that one CAN kill you. Nonetheless, the protocol has assisted two dozen or more people to get off and stay off.

Re: In your opinion, what withdrawal symptoms are the worst?
Based on my personal experience I'd say Opioids/Opiates but based on first hand accounts from others I would say Alcohol/Benzodiazepines

I'm on my 7th month clean from Opioids (Oxycodone) and it was a living hell for two weeks. Fortunately after that it wasn't too bad as I was able to sleep but the anxiety, no energy and no ambition was tough (PAWS Symptoms)

But from what others have been through withdrawing from Alcohol/Benzos they actually went into seizures and couldn't maintain normal body functions for months.

In fact I lost a good friend to Alcohol withdrawal due to these very reasons verysad

After methadone, the PAWS was awful. As an herbalist, my gardens were my livelihood. I just watched them die. I neglected everything around me as I just sat and hurt and cried and spaced out for seven months. My kids wondered what was wrong with me.... it was very hard to explain to them.

Folks should know that there are board certified Addictionologists out there. They understand how it works and don't give the hassles that a Methadone clinic does. Oddly, my addictionologist is a PAWS denier. I don't get his perspective, but the reductionist view of the body seems like a possible source of this thinking.

All in all, I believe withdrawal has a "spirit sickness" component as a root for PAWS. In the protocol I mention above, flower remedies (google bach flower remedies.... I have no idea how they work, but I use them in my practice because they do.... same with homeopathics) are central to the treatment of PAWS.

Alcohol and benzo withdrawal should ALWAYS be medically monitored. IT CAN KILL YOU. You hear folks say that it can't, but that is bullshit. You also hear folks say PAWS isn't real, but you can ask any long-term opiate user and they'll tell you the truth.

If anyone is interested, I will post the (mostly) herbal protocol I developed and use in my practice. It helps, a lot, but nothing can make symptoms go away completely.

Benzos/alcohol are the only ones that can kill you if you don't taper properly.

Re: In your opinion, what withdrawal symptoms are the worst?
benzos are the worst. And the longer you are on them, even at a low dose, its better just to be maintained on them. benzo withdrawal should never be attempted at home. I you are on benzos for a couple months you will have some sort of siezure. beware that alcohol and benzo withdrawal have the highest incidence of death in withdrawal. moderation is the key. they told us back in the 1980's that xanax was way better than valium and was not addictive. so at the anxiety clinic the stupid shrinks(the dumbest doctors and psychiatry should not be a branch of medicine)would rx the stuff like candy. for example 8 1mg a day. I could not function even on 4. I took about 3 a day. after awhile xanax don't work that well for sleep. you just take them to keep you from going into convulsions. now i am on clonazepam. my shrink told me clonaz is to ativan, xanax, fast acting benzos, what methodone is to heroin. only intelligent thing i head from a shrink in my life and those goes back 30 years.

If you are millionaire or got 35,000$$$ the Waisman benzo detox is the best. this is telling: waisman anaethesia detox for opiates is one day. For benzos users its 5 f ing days of being under, and a week inpatient follow up.

what makes me mad about usa medicine is these f ing doctors can get a sole patent, propriatary on a procedure and thats why they are so expensive. would never happen in France or Norway. fact is many detox doctors tried the anaesthesia method for detox with success it was just this greedy scumbag WAisman got a patent on it. f him. f us business law and its tentacles withholding treatment for the 99%

nicotine is hard but nothing compared to benzo and opiate withdrawal. the key to cigarrette or nicotine in another delivery form is to gradually exand the time between cigarettes. I got down to several at night. and can go several days without a cig. and even have quit for several years. but when things happen in life that cause stress then its so easy to start smoking again.

I'm on effexor and if I try to come off of it, I get flu symptoms really bad and my brain "jumps". I get so sick and I can't function at all. I haven't been off it in 16 years and hope not to be off of it ever. I am also on Geodon and Xanax. Hope not to be off of those either.
