The diarrhea did not start until day 12, that is when it got REALLY bad. I have since developed an herbal protocol for opiate and benzo withdrawal. Benzos still require MD supervision... that one CAN kill you. Nonetheless, the protocol has assisted two dozen or more people to get off and stay off. |

Fortunately after that it wasn't too bad as I was able to sleep but the anxiety, no energy and no ambition was tough (PAWS Symptoms) But from what others have been through withdrawing from Alcohol/Benzos they actually went into seizures and couldn't maintain normal body functions for months. In fact I lost a good friend to Alcohol withdrawal due to these very reasons |

In fact I lost a good friend to Alcohol withdrawal due to these very reasons After methadone, the PAWS was awful. As an herbalist, my gardens were my livelihood. I just watched them die. I neglected everything around me as I just sat and hurt and cried and spaced out for seven months. My kids wondered what was wrong with me.... it was very hard to explain to them. Folks should know that there are board certified Addictionologists out there. They understand how it works and don't give the hassles that a Methadone clinic does. Oddly, my addictionologist is a PAWS denier. I don't get his perspective, but the reductionist view of the body seems like a possible source of this thinking. All in all, I believe withdrawal has a "spirit sickness" component as a root for PAWS. In the protocol I mention above, flower remedies (google bach flower remedies.... I have no idea how they work, but I use them in my practice because they do.... same with homeopathics) are central to the treatment of PAWS. Alcohol and benzo withdrawal should ALWAYS be medically monitored. IT CAN KILL YOU. You hear folks say that it can't, but that is bullshit. You also hear folks say PAWS isn't real, but you can ask any long-term opiate user and they'll tell you the truth. If anyone is interested, I will post the (mostly) herbal protocol I developed and use in my practice. It helps, a lot, but nothing can make symptoms go away completely. |
