| Luisport User ID: 9548642 01/25/2012 06:27 AM ![]() Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Updated 1/25/2012 @ 06:50 UTC Geomagnetic Storm Subsides The Kp index is now below 5, and the short lived G1 Geomagnetic Storm appears over for now. The solar wind on impact was over 750 km/s, but the mechanics of the event failed to generate a stronger storm. The Bz never dipped into negative territory for long durations, and this most likely suppressed activity. The solar wind remains near 600 km/s, and there is still a chance for geomagnetic activity to flare up again at very high latitudes. Stay Tuned to SolarHam.com for any new information. UPDATE The Kp Index rose slightly to 4. Minor geomagnetic activity will be possible at very high latitudes. [link to www.solarham.com] |

After the CME impacted Earth on Tuesday morning, it reached an even higher reading (6300 pfu) and is now the largest radiation storm since October 2003. This event was responsible for the re-routing of commerical flights through the polar regions due to radiation risks. [link to www.solarham.com] |
| Jake101 User ID: 7103407 01/26/2012 06:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | M CLASS. YAAAWWWNNN. wake me up if we see an X. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550737 Why is this pinned? 0% Doom here. it has to do with the CME from the Flare that is arriving the Flare happened Jan 23rd today the mass plasma from the sun that was ejected arrives IMPORTANT : a Solar Flare and CME are NOT the same. A Solar Flare is Light, A CME is Mass! A Flare travels at the speed of light A CME travels at the speed of ejection (like pressing on the gas peddle of a car) Weren't you injured some time back? How have you been doing? I remembered reading a lot of your Solar threads. i am healing good thanks ^^ i have some great doctors that im very thankful for :) Glad to hear it! |
