Strange sounds heard around the world just a JJ Abrams tease?

So we have all seen the threads of the sounds heard around the world, maybe some of you have even heard it in person. I just heard from who works in the movie business that it's all just another viral marketing campaign for Cloverfield 2. Remember the viral videos and fake web sites set up before the 1st movie came out? This time around they figure everyone has some type of recording device and can capture the noise and share it. The sounds that I've heard in the recent videos do sound some what similar to the creature in the 1st movie. We can debate about what the sounds are, magnetic disturbances, pole shifting, crab people or something behind a door that monks found very deep in a cave (cool monk thread today I you missed it). Either way, just sharin what I heard.
