Re: Prejudiced? You Might be dumb and conservative.
...
If OP were bright enough, he would have read a bit more and realized that the "dumb" people are just those too dumb to know the expected answers on questionnaires.

Like "would you be willing to work with people of other races?" Obviously one must answer "yes" regardless of one's real feelings. People who don't know HOW to answer that question, indeed, are probably fairly dumb.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4596203

Anyway, back to OP's reading comprehension weakness. The article just shows that those who don't know how to give politically correct answers when needed are dumb.

And it admits it, saying that the study cannot detect "hidden racism". OP's reading comprehension issue is fairly serious. It takes no more than about an eighth grade reading level to get this.

Jesus H Christ,...the dumb trying to lead the dumber right here in my own thread.

I would never expect such a study with a far left president in office. Remember, it's only racist if its right or white!

True.

Asians are in no way racist. Blacks, well... since they are victims of racism... they can't be racist themselves. And brown people... racists?... please.

Sure, Asians don't look down of other minorities because they know many of them are easily accepted in white communities, whilst at the same time shunned by other minorities because of that fact. Much less shunned due to their general levels of success in comparison to other minorities. That's pure fiction!

No black man has ever stood outside of a polling station and told whitey that they are going to live under the rule of the black man. Nope, no video of that ever happening!

No Brown person has ever made claims of having invented numbers and mathematics whilst someone else's white ancestors were living in caves. Nope, never happened!

Re: Prejudiced? You Might be dumb and conservative.
There are many valid arguments that we spend too much on defense... and I agree with many of them. So on that point we find no need for further conflictive discourse. The ideas of an American Empire or Pax Americanus are bullshit, but "global strike capabilities" are needed, IMHO.

Note the underlined wording. No offense, but the vast amount of tax Federal tax $$ going back into taxpayer pockets' is going to "taxpayers" who pay little to no taxes!

Do I want to help my friends and neighbors.. of course. But does funneling federal money to them help them, and if so how?

Fed$ helps when applied to schools and teachers.

Fed$ helps when applied to adult job training.

Fed$ helps when given to state ward programs (orphans... you know orphans can go to college for free for five calendar years via fed$, even Harvard if they get in, right?)

Fed$ helps those with developmental disorders live quality lives.

WTF do food-stamps, welfare and social justice programs do for people IN THE LONG TERM other than perpetuate the very problems they supposedly alleviate?

Just look at food-stamps:

Do many families need food-stamps right now? YES! the economy is in the toilet and kids need to eat. When the time comes that things turn around, said families will no longer need that assistance and will, gladly I am sure, get out of the program. I gladly pay taxes for these families in the same way I support orphan education and medicaid (pardon the plain English, but medicare for retards).

However, has a huge percentage been of those families been on them for years, generations even... and all with no conditions or strings attached? YES! How are they being helped?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9746155

Well,...I do not feel we have disagreement. Although, I know of many military families that benefit from food-stamps, as well as others. I feel the generational dependance on it is detrimental and a vicious circle that needs to be addressed.

However; the bulk of your post goes without question,...imo.

cheers

shouldnt this read: "If you are a conservative, you are more likely to be stupid and prejudiced? I've seen enough of that so-called logic and thought process to figure maybe 90% of Conservatives have IQs of 100 or less;
This was validated by the survey that showed all red states had lower than average IQs

Honestly, you have no way to defend yourself against a simple truth, so as opposed to simply saying "I am wrong", you continue to make silly comments on this one issue.

The other things we can find agreement with, well, we agree. FYI, I am no elitist, but I am a hard worker and do invest my money. When ppl don't work and simply take from those who do and others make no effort to invest - and then complain about how the system is rigged against them - that pisses me off. It isn't my fault some dude works for $10/hr doing some bullshit cust. service job and won't do more to uplift himself through education or what-and-have-you. It isn't my fault some poor (and more often than not, white) woman lives in poverty with 3 children and 'can't escape' her conditions.

There is a world of difference between the Rich, shrinking middle class and then the working poor. But within those lower two tiers, there is beginning a split which concerns me. It appears some people no longer want to take any responsibility for their actions.

I'm sorry the foreclosure rates have skyrocketed, I really am, but it isn't my fault people didn't read the fine print or otherwise fell victim to things which were too good to be true. It isn't my fault some folks didn't use all that cheap credit to go to college or learn a trade (I did both). It isn't my fault the middle manager white guy lost his job and now won't go to work for half the pay he used to get. It isn't my fault a healthy young man won't go do a hard days work and would rather live with his mother and smoke weed all day. It isn't my fault some young black female's gov. job is being wiped off the books due to budget cuts and now has to find someplace else to apply her hard earned college diploma. And I owe those people NOTHING!

If I read you right,...you are saying that you worked hard for what you have and did everything within your power to make it happen for yourself. You feel you owe nothing to anyone that did/does not do the same to pull themselves up.
I truly admire you for your achievements, but you do not factor in unforeseen events that erase them in a heartbeat. Medical bills for instance, loss of a job or a limb that would not allow you to work.

My question to you would be,...Since we are taxed to the bone, and a pot of money exists, do you think it should go to fund unending wars or to be divvied up in some way to aid the people that earned it.

For instance,...the huge banker bailouts. If that money would have paid off the delinquent mortgages before it went to the bankers. The economy would have been flush. The bankers would have still received the same amount of bailout money, but the people would not still be on the hook and out of a home.

I know you will say that many receive that do not earn and I agree with you. But still,...

What say you?

Perpetual war = piss poor idea. And that money should either not be spent elsewhere (Ex. infrastructure spending), or better yet, not collected at all. personally, I think half of that money needed to pay for them has come from Chinese loans, but since it is taxpayers who will pay that debt off, I make a moot point.

As for the 'taxed to the bone' comment... ah, methinks you should check US tax rates when compared to other industrialized nations. I know not exact figures, but we are pretty low in comparison.

Bank bailouts? you sure make a good point about paying off the debt incurred by mortgage holders, but said debt was not at issue. The debt created by credit default swaps was what needed bailing out. And if the bankers, lenders, brokers and loan recipients had been responsible in the loans they made and took, there would have been no issue. But replace 30 fixed rate with 25 year varied rate mortgages, and then sell that product to people who in no way qualify for either... and then do so en mass... mass failure is the only option.

America collectively fucked up. PERIOD! The rich want to blame the middlemen. The poor want to blame the rich. The middlemen want to blame everyone else.

But I recall looking at my neighbors... good and decent people... average, middle class, two income families... borrowing and refinancing their asses off so they could get another SUV, boat or ATV... and then when the whole deck of cards collapsed, sat there dumbfounded as to what went wrong. The idea of an economic bubble... just like the tech one which had burst right before the real estate bubble grew... had never crossed their minds. The idea that home prices 10% a year - FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER - that was the reality they chose to believe.

But my ass took my useless math diploma and welding certs to TX and started working offshore. I bought a house below my means. I only own one vehicle. I didn't eat up my equity to buy silly toys. I wasn't a victim of consumerism.

I invested in more than just the 401K my employer provided. I opened a Scott Trade account to chase dividends. I played the game the right way. And those who cheated or turned a blind eye to the obvious truth now want to go back to the way things were without paying any price.

The rich don't want to pay more taxes. the poor won't accept cuts. the middle class won't retrain themselves for non service based employment. But in the same way they all worked together to fuck up everything, they now refuse to work together to fix their collective mistakes.

And educated yet hard working, common sense having, non public service/private labor union living, independently minded folks like myself are stuck in the the midst of all the crazies... STILL!

my only wish is that we could find a way to separate social/religious conservatives from fiscal/secular conservatives.

THAT IS THE ISSUE!

Most people who call themselves liberals would actually know themselves to be moderate conservatives if it weren't for the herding of all of us together into one big tent.

Two great examples:

Homosexuality... most Americans, lib and moderate and con, are fine with gay marriage... and many even adoption... but mods and cons just don't want their 7 year old kids learning about it in public school. But call yourself anything but a liberal, you must be a homo hater!

Taxes... most Americans are fine with paying taxes... but everyone has to listen to the propaganda mills (AKA the media) polarize the issues, and through misinfo, divide us into camps which do not serve the interests of the vast majority of taxpaying Americans.

Re: Prejudiced? You Might be dumb and conservative.
~~~Snip~~~
"Those who give into racism and prejudice might simply be dumb, according to the results of a new study that is sure to stir up some controversy.
The study found that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. Lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario, said that these findings point to a vicious cycle.
The study also found that low intelligence adults tend to gravitate towards socially conservative ideologies, and those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice..."
my only wish is that we could find a way to separate social/religious conservatives from fiscal/secular conservatives.
THAT IS THE ISSUE!
Most people who call themselves liberals would actually know themselves to be moderate conservatives if it weren't for the herding of all of us together into one big tent.
Two great examples:
Homosexuality... most Americans, lib and moderate and con, are fine with gay marriage... and many even adoption... but mods and cons just don't want their 7 year old kids learning about it in public school. But call yourself anything but a liberal, you must be a homo hater!
Taxes... most Americans are fine with paying taxes... but everyone has to listen to the propaganda mills (AKA the media) polarize the issues, and through misinfo, divide us into camps which do not serve the interests of the vast majority of taxpaying Americans.
I would note that the article seemed to be about social conservatism, but also it was a poorly done study. The example I saw was how people responded to the question "Would you mind working with people of different races."
Now quite honestly one could have concerns. If it's a dangerous job, or you will be evaluated as a team, one might reasonable want to avoid a partner who got there by affirmative action over many years. But still, if you have a decent amount of cleverness, and the answer can be traced back to you, but without your reasoning, you will probably tell a little white lie and say "of course I wouldn't mind!"
And thus in the survey you would show up as "not conservative".
Why would you separate social conservatism from the political brand?? It would be like Romney separating himself from his Mormon upbringing. One would be lying if they claimed they could do so.
The rest of your post,...indicates you may have low self-esteem that you project upon people you do not know in the least,...
imo.
You might just be a little too high there Mike.
I am not a democrat or a Republican. These labels are meaningless and appeal to only the simple minded among us.
You must be a card-carrying conservative judging by your tone.
Not a fence sitter, just a person with core values of fairness and freedom.
The "parties" separate and congregate people into systems of mind-control,...imo.
Us against them no question.
I support RPaul because I hear him speaking a truth I understand consistently.
Whatever, you've deluded yourself into believing you're "superior" for some unknown reason...
Enjoy your delusions...
How's that for a label???
Not unexpected,... typical really.
I never mentioned anything regarding superiority, just that I despise labels and want freedom and justice for all.
Deluded thinking on my part I know.
