The picture you referenced from 1971 is a lunar eclipse. Jeeze IDW, quit being such an... an... IDW Got those X Ray insolation calcs done yet? You've had over 7 years to figure it out. (chortle) R. I don't even know what you're babbling about? Apollo? I proved NASA falsified the data and the astronauts of no Apollo mission left earth orbit using empirical data and pure logic. X+Y> X where X and Y are both positive numbers.. WHERE???? No link you stink. Phil Plaits disinformation forum, the info is still archived even though they deleted it. My proof involved NASA's Apollo's radiation dosimeter readings showing almost exactly the same exposure rate for the Apollo 7 earth orbital mission as for the alleged landing missions, which even if they DID have lead shielding would indicate much greater exposure for a translunar mission and lunar landing. X+Y>X where X and Y are positive numbers, this is solid incontrovertible proof using empirical data and strictly adhering to the scientific method. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 74444 02/24/2013 04:29 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | By the way, the prediction of 90 degrees on Christmas day in the northern states was very conservative, and will mist likely be worst. By that time it won't matter anyway, because there will be no way to say "I told you so", no do i revel in being able to beat my chest and take credit for predicting that probability. Quoting: A. Astro-physicist 1347517 Alas, that doesn't do him much good, either. The failed prediction has already been acknowledged and I believe adequately explained in full detail, which begs the question, why do you feel the need to repeat it over and over and over again? Actually, it's two separate failed predictions. The first was that the great Cleansing you have predicting would occur on December 21st. That one failed. The second separate prediction of yours was ninety degree temperatures this Winter. That *also* failed. We have a few more dates coming up, and I find it likely that those will fall into the 'failed' category as well. In real science we do not berate another fellow scientist for a failed prediction based on theory, we move on and maybe try to determine what the failed prediction means and why it occurred. Quoting: Anonymous Astrophysicist 1181905 By that definition, you are not a scientist, then. You berate others, including 'fellow scientists' all the time. And the reason why the failure occurred is that your premise is utterly wrong. But you'll never admit that, even as the cleansing fails to occur over and over again. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 74444 02/24/2013 04:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I also can't help but notice how you failed to answer these questions, and instead came up with pages of obfuscation. It is obvious IDW/A.A really wants the thread to wander away from the questions he won't answer. Here, I'll even bold them (which somehow demonstrates I am not an agent, but I expect IDW will rapidly change his tine on THAT one). This is important, and I'd like to see an answer. Surely, IDW/A.A, you can check this out and answer it completely and honestly. You can also answer these. And yet, out of the box, with no updates whatsoever, they track flawlessly. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74444 Updates are good -- they fix bugs and add objects to the database. But the models I mentioned have no mechanisms whatsoever without removing the chips altogether. Yet, they work. Can you *explain* that, IDW/A.A? Do you believe that all telescopes manufactured before 2000 are unable to track the heavens? Autostar has been good about updates; there was one in January 2013 and the earlier version is from August 2012. Both, of course, require connecting the controller to a computer, but the telescopes will track without the upgrade just fine. Celestron hasn't issued an update since 2007. Does that mean all Celestron GOTO telescopes are now broken? How would a STARWHEEL work if there was unpredicted motions of the Earth? How do you IMAGINE it would get updated? Why can you use a Starwheel from 30 years ago and still find constellations rising and setting on time? These are not rhetorical questions. If you can explain how these instruments, precisely measuring the heavens, can somehow adapt to the unpredictable sky you've postulated, I'm all ears. If you cannot, be a man and admit you're wrong. Any individual who has any experience in astronomy knows that because the position of the Earth relative to the universe is moving in several different vectors, a few which are unknowns, the chandler wobble is totally unpredictable , there is no such thing as an immovable mount and that the Gregorian method of timekeeping is grossly inaccurate, that it would be impossible for clockwork or computer software to inaccurately locate celestial objects over more than few months period of time at best. Quoting: Anonymous Astrophysicist 1173362 How are eclipses, transits, and occultations predicted so accurately, then -- some *centuries* in advance? Again, please explain how these predictions could work so accurately if anything were moving in unpredictable ways in the sky. If you cannot, I submit that you are grossly in error. Please address my questions, completely and politely, or simply admit that your claim was erroneous. If you do, I won't even add this latest blunder to the List. |

Furthermore, I already proved it was normal with my calculations. On January 30th, 1971, that is exactly what the moon should have looked like. It was a horizontal crescent phase. Quoting: Dr. Astro You're dealing with an obvious moron. As a child I remember seeing the moon appear as a horizontal crescent. NOWHERE have I seen ANYONE who said that global warming was real suddenly change their mind. Why? Because you can't use ONE winter to come to a conclusion. You need to look at winter climate over several years to see if there's a trend. And this winter is far from normal. I live in CO...we've had temps 20 degrees ABOVE normal for over two months.
