And again for educational purpose: The closest distance of Earth to the sun (perihelion) around January 3rd is 147,054,707 km resulting in an angular diameter of 32'42" (= 32.70'). The furthest distance of Earth to the moon (apogee) is 405,500 km resulting in an angular diameter of 29'26" (= 29.433'). Thus the minimum possible obscuring of the suns disk by the moons disk is: 32.700 / 29.433 = 0.9000917 respective 90.00917% or approximated 90.01% Since the eclipse in my signature occured only twelve days after the Earths perihelion and just two days ahead of the moons apogee, the eclipse was with it 91.90% quite close to the minimum obscuring of 90.01% Was this simple enough for the Incredible Dim Astrophysicist and the UK AC 801?
