Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1605109 The weakly organized sunspot group 1429 WAS NOT the source if the x ray flux reading of X-1 last night. After repeatedly analyzing and comparing various videos of solar flares, I estimate that the 'eruption' from 1429 was a high c class flare that barely registered above background. The source of the Xray flux was at least ten degrees north of the group 1429 and behind the limb of the sun, as was the resulting CME. Could one be feeding another that would be out of sight?say behind..other side? Look at the dark gash in the surface of the sun in this image taken with a lens that filters all but light with a green wavelength. [ link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov] If you get a welders lens with a number 11 green tinted lens you can see this gash yourself. IT IS NOT A CORONAL HOLE, IT SOMETHING TOTALLY NEW, I have NEVER been able to see coronal holes with welders lenses because the contrast was never this great, this is a gash in the layer of the sun below the photosphere effecting the magnetic field that actually shows up to some degree on the magneto gram: [ link to sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov] this is the source of the x ray event of last night. edit, accidentally omitted the link
