I was in the Texarkana area during this period of time. I had concluded by this time that the solar activity I had predicted had little chance of materializing and was enjoying christmas festivities with relatives and friends. Nothing I said about the weather was even slightly exaggerated.

On the the 22nd I took my three young cousins four wheeling on a nature adventure through the Caddo lake swamps, which are very dry which gave us the opportunity to ride through parts of the swamp which are ordinarily unreachable by any means. We saw a dormant alligator, a dead possum and a den tree with a family of raccoons living it. The 8 year old found and picked up a dead turtle with only the delicate shell remaining and we found several bobcat tracks, saw several squirrels and unfortunately ran over one particularly confused individual who didn't seem to be able to decide which way to go accidentally ourselves. We built a small fire using the bow,string, stick and tinder method so I could show them how to do it if they found the need in the future. I skinned , gutted and cooked the poor bastard on an improvised spit. he tasted like shit and one of my cousins fillings fell out trying to chew it and his mother gave me shit about until his grandpa told her to shut the fuck up about it because it wasn't my fault.
