If that's the case, then GOTO telescopes should have no trouble tracking the Moon, and yet you say they will fail to do this. Which is it?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74444 If their software has been updated to account for the change they will and if hasn't they won't I think that's easy enough to understand. Most amateurs using their own telescopes who have not received these updates would simply assume they had made some error themselves and in my experience amateur astronomers for the most part do not use 'goto" software to locate the moon or track it, they just point the telescope at it where they see it and follow it manually. it doesn't race across the sky at breakneck speed.. Quoting: Anonymous Atrophysicist 1176764 Well, depends on how magnified you are looking at it. If you want to watch certain features on the lunar surface for any length of time, they can move out in just a couple of minutes if you aren't tracking. So, let me get this straight again. Un-updated telescopes with GOTO, if aligned with the stars and tracking them, will fail to track the Moon because it is not moving as traditionally predicted. Correct? Old astronomy books will fail regarding upcoming solar and lunar eclipses if they were published before, what -- 1995? But Maya predictions of future eclipses will be accurate? Am I stating your position correctly?
