The possibility of having US troops based in New Zealand has been raised by US Secretary of Defence Leon Panetta.

The president said the new strategy would end "long-term nation-building with large military footprints". The Pentagon would instead pursue a national security strategy based on "smaller conventional ground forces".

Shifting doctrine

Mr Obama said in November on a visit to Canberra, Australia, that the Asia-Pacific region was now a top priority for the US. That speech was seen as a challenge to the rising regional power of China.

"As I made clear in Australia, we'll be strengthening our presence in the Asia-Pacific, and budget reductions will not come at the expense of this critical region," he told media at the Pentagon.

Now it seems our cathedral will be pulled down they have sabotaged in and now conned people into some new contemporary design. Most have so far voted for this.

Odds are as soon as it is down something will happen and another never gets rebuilt.

Idea to have sensors track Christchurch

Sensors streaming real-time information on everything from traffic to weather and water systems, and even how many people are on the city's streets.

This is Roger Dennis' plan to make Christchurch unique.

For the past 12 months the Christchurch technology expert has been living and breathing a concept called The Sensing City, which would see sensors installed underneath the city's roads and at the top of street lights.

They would then stream real-time information that could be used by city planners to create a "snapshot of how cities actually work".

Not sure if mentioned in the above but stated in the Press newspaper, the senors would let them know how many cars were on a road etc. Scary stuff.

This is probably how they made the Christchurch 6.3 quake.

Below is a clip of a test done for creating just this kind of quake. It was filmed in 1971.

A large missile was lowered into a hole uncased in 54 inch steel. It was placed into a mined cavity 5875 ft beneath the surface of the Island. The hole then was completely stemmed or back-filled. With material designed to contain the (supposed) radiation. The Cannikin devise was predicted to have a yield of less than 5 mega tons. Water disturbance was observed but no tsunami was observed. Ground shock was felt as a rocking motion twenty three miles away and was faintly perceptible at a military bases about 200 miles away. Recordings of the test showed a body wave magnitude of 6.8 mag and a surface wave magnitude of 5.7.
