Quoting: Ninja 1337378 For example here in belgium we had a december and almost entire januari well above the freezing line so the temperatures were temperatures of autumn rather than winter which is as far as i can remember something entirely knew. Since it always freezes at some point in december in belgium. Always! So we have this very bizzar warm december and warm januari. And all of a sudden a bitter cold wave arrives from russia? Some even call it an extreme cold wave a rare event that didn't happen in decades over central europe! [link to forum.weatherzone.com.au] So what's making the jet streams to behave like that? Pole shift? [link to www.germerica.net] By the way it's due to a very cold high pressure system from siberia..... Makes you wonder what that kind of thing is doing here in central europe.... Any waether experts around to enlighten me. Glacial doom is coming! thanks OP - beautiful and sunny here in amsterdam - but frikkin freezing buiten! tijd voor warme muts en handschoenen eh! dag! |

Ninja (OP) User ID: 1337378 Belgium 01/31/2012 06:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With the sun soon to be rising in the West instead of East, weather systems will likely move East to West after the pole reversal. A chance to get used to it now! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 162364 Well although i believe the sun will rise from the west at some point after the pole shift i have a difficult time believeing this would happen soon like in december 2012. But who knows with all the shit going on in this world one might never know. Anyway these weird weather events can be attributed to shifting jet stream patterns. But what makes the jet streams turn and twist like that? Earths magnetosphere looks fine. [link to www2.nict.go.jp] So i guess planet x or nibiru could be real! Or maybe some sort of galactic alignment. As some say will happen in 2012. There is of course the disappearance of the gulf stream ceanic current but that event cannot affect the entire globe right? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 9868269 Norway 01/31/2012 06:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is basically the result of a process called stratospheric warming, where a massive bubble of warm air over the Pacific made it's way up to the stratosphere 40 km up, and was replaced by cold air. The result was that the global temperature dropped by one deg C in only 8 days. This has given way to the high pressure to establish itself over Russia and now Central Europe, pushing this cold air all over the place. The story on the stratospheric warming can be found at [link to wattsupwiththat.com] |

Hot air is lighter than cold air so it moves up. It is a known phenomena that is described here [link to en.wikipedia.org] According to the article this happens roughly every 2 years (major event.) |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9920012 Germany 01/31/2012 06:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well i suspect that sudden inversion of the ionosphere in russia was also attributed to man made technology. Can they really change a jet stream pattern by heating the upper layers of the ionosphere? oh please, it is WINTER !! and btw. they stopped chemtrailing, don´t know why, but since it´s sunny now one would expect them start chemtrailing the hell out of the big cities - but they don´t.... hmmmmm ^^ |

Usial temperature for this time. No any extreme cold. |
Ninja (OP) User ID: 1337378 Belgium 02/03/2012 08:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As has been said, it's the middle of winter. Ever heard of a cold snap? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 475310 You even explained it in your original post "due to a very cold high pressure system from siberia" Nothing odd about it. In a regular winter scenario i would say you are about 100% right about this. But considering we had the warmest autumn and months of december and januari too it is highly unusual. This cold weather came very fast just prior to very warm winter! My guess is the end of the gulf stream is triggering sudden stratospheric warmings. The change in sea temperature could explain the stratospheric disturbances. But then again i'm not an expert. Anyway this link provided by another glp'er gives some insight about what triggered this abnormal sudden cooling. [link to wattsupwiththat.com] |
