So, I'm guessing that it's ONCOR for you as you are also in North Texas. The big problem will be to get ONCOR to remove. I'm trying to figure out if anyone has sent a letter to ONCOR (or any carrier) and successfully had them remove the meter. You have any insight? I work for Oncor it doesn't matter who your provider is Oncor owns about 99% of all the power lines in DFW and installs all the meters. |

Wrap your smart meter in aluminum foil. If you live in an apartment wrap EVERYONE'S smart meters. Yeah they may drag you in. Get informed and tell the judge why you are warping these killers. If just 10.000 of us do it it will MAKE a DIFFERENCE. Please grow a pair, we are being killed. Fight! |

I'm trying to figure out if anyone has sent a letter to ONCOR (or any carrier) and successfully had them remove the meter. The problem is this is an UN Agenda 21 issue. Everyone in DC and Brussels KNOWS these things are killing us SLOWLY and IMPERCEPTIBLY. Just like "vaccinations". They justify this by the use these "smart" meters will be put to. o Spy on we the people o enable time of day/night power pricing; if you want running your washing machine at 3 PM will be 30% cheaper o ration power and water "THEY" will not remove them. WE must remove them! |

It's always locked and I don't always answer the door when people come a knockin'. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8050547 Don't you have to provide access to your electric meter? You do, esp. for an old style meter, so they can determine your bill. So then one day, instead of just reading your meter, they swap it out for a smart-meter. I don't see a way to stop it physically. Don Q User ID: 7165049 Canada 02/01/2012 12:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I work for the main power company here in Dallas and they're installing them everywhere. There's some pro's and con' s with the them. I don't know how it is around the rest of the country but here you can bitch and gripe all you want but eventually if you want electricity you're going to have to have one. Locking your gate or not letting them in your backyard won't stop it they'll just cut you off at the pole or trip off the transformer until you have one in place. The main reason our company likes them because the ghetto rats in south Dallas can't steal meters anymore because the new smart meters have a tracking device in them. Also people can't pay the meter readers to turn in a lower reading. If your worried about them being able to shut your power off at anytime with them then I have news for you. They can without them with what they call SCADA devices installed throughout the distribution grid. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6378496 Thanks for this info. I think you are right about what the power provider can do but I am also right about my right to refuse. Smart meters are wireless devices that collect information on your power usage. It can also collect all sorts of other information such as ..when you are home. You know those smart friges that read bar codes?? Well so can a smart meter. Power companies have admitted they will sell information about you to third parties. In the world I grew up in a court order was required to install such a device.. some evidence of law breaking would have to be produced. How far things have fallen... these devices are being forced on a lot of people against their will. I have drawn the line on our slow step by step decline into slavery. No smart meter on my house. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 9959647 United States 02/01/2012 01:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Those smart meters are also dangerous for your health. I researched this after I stayed at a friend's apartment that had smart meters everywhere. Dr. Bill Deagle has some good info regarding this. Quoting: Deanster Way less dangerous than cell phones and their towers. Cell phones transmit all the time. Meters transmit in bursts. About 5 seconds per 24 hours. So if you think meters are dangerous, throw away your cell phones and get in the face of any one using a cell phone and make them turn it off, then get the 99%ers to camp out at all the cell towers across the land and get the phone companies to go back to landline only. Let me know how it goes, that is if your brain doesn't melt first from the cell phone rf being bounced in all around you, all the time, even when you sleep, even if you wear a tinfoil hat, the rf will find a way in. You need to do some serious research. I have had one installed for almost 1 year now, and my monthly bill has averaged approximately $19 more per month since the install. You are wrong about one time "bursts". The one I have on my house transmits every 15 seconds, not once per day. They should be a real concern to each and every one of us as they can transmit up to two miles. If you think, oh well, it is a small amount of electromagnetic radiation we are being exposed to, add up all the homes, apts, ect around you within this radius. You may have a different outlook on the dangers of smart meters. In this state, we don't have a choice about them being installed. Some states do, such as Maine, so check and see if you can keep your old analog meter. You need to understand that the SCUMBAG that you are taking to (with the "666" in his name) is a slimeball who has a vested FINANCIAL interest in telling lies. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9959647 United States 02/01/2012 01:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And those bastards charged me $150 for it. Any suggestions? Has anyone been successful in getting it removed? Quoting: tandym BTW, my electric bill for last month was only $94... after tax and the smart meter was added on it was close to $300. I am pissed. wow they put it on today and you already have your bill??? i gotta call bullshit and by the way they put one on my house about 6 months ago and my bill has been lower ever since. I got the bill a week before they installed it. The bill came with a $150 'services' fee on it. I meant to ask my husband about it but forgot -- then bam. He texted me this morning to tell me that we had one. The power went out yesterday in the afternoon -- now we know why. Isn't THAT a slap in the face! You are being charged a $150 "service fee" (plus a higher monthly bill, I'm sure) to screw your health, and to monitor and control your electricity usage. Isn't that wonderful? Just like Big Brother, where you get to finance your own tyranny. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 9959647 United States 02/01/2012 01:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I made them take mine off (Arizona). AZ's electric companies (SRP and APS) offer an Opt-out program. they now charge me $25 per month to read the old analog metter. If your state legislature (Texas did) passed a law requring everyone to have a smart meter, you are out-of-luck in getting rid of it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1326727 Google "Smart meters and fires" - scary stuff!! $25 a month? Just to read your meter? These people are such unbelievable crooks. |
Foresight User ID: 5157961 Australia 02/01/2012 02:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here in Australia they are installing those smart meters now. Last week they tried to put 1 in our home , we said noway piss off. I have put a perspex window in the meter box which houses our meters , so they can read them , also pad locked the meter box so they can't get in without breaking something. I put a notice which is pretty much word for word in that [vid on this post] stuck that on meter box , with a note inside box saying smile your on CCTV . |

AlbaEqus User ID: 1551557 United States 02/01/2012 02:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just got one installed on my house yesterday. The power company sent me a letter 2 weeks ago saying within the next thirty days they were going to install one, and a couple days before they were going to send out another letter confirming the day and time they were going to do so. They never sent that second letter and they wedged a piece of paper in my front door between the weather stripping that they had successfully installed the power meter. If I had know what day they were going to do this, I would had told them I refuse. I guess now with the new power meters, its paving the way for hourly rated changes in price per kWh which means higher bills in the long run. Can't win in this world anymore. Quoting: Recondo Yes you can win, why do you need electricity? Use solar... Rip out the meter.. stand up and fight back.. you do not ever have to accept the way things are.. AlbaEqus |

Another obvious smart meter shill. This one with "666" in his username. People, the web is so infested with shills anymore, you had better watch everything you read, an ALWAYS compare it to the weight of evidence. The ONLY thing this asshole said that is true, is that cell phones (and towers) are harmful. And smart meters? "5 seconds for every 24 hours" MY ASS. not a shill, I've said in other posts that I'm a line troubleshooter. Unless we're talking different types of meters. I stand by 5 seconds per 24 hours. I still call bs on the service charge unless the op caused some type of obstruction. If not, file a complaint with your PUC asap. When any one signs up for service, you allow reasonable access to the power company property. The meter cannot tell what you're doing inside. They will know when you're using more or less power than usual. You people with grow lights might want to take note. But they could do that with the analog meters too over time. The meters won't say, "Sally's in the shower, break in now" Yeah right, I only own company stock in my stock option plan. I'm more concerned about ceo's making waay too much money.
