Quoting: DoodleBug I'm still going to find out exactly what is in this thing and since we can't remove it, he'll wear something else until it's off. dont keep that thing in your house or near you or him return it tomorrow asap and let the other parents know about this too get your kid out of there transfer to another school this is almost as sick as the school monitoring kids through government lap tops while they were at home! |

Quoting: Chicken Tikka Masala why did they first tell you the tribe did it? and then they told you they did it because you did not opt out? You're welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope something good comes out of this!!!!! It took one of those 15 girls in NY going on Dr. Drew and passing out from a seizure to get Erin Brockovich and others to look into it and get things going!!!!! Hopefully, this will get the ball rolling less "dramatically!!!" LOL. They supposedly sent her an option to "opt out" through THE MAIL. She never received it. That's how they are claiming she "assented." Correct, thanks! You're welcome!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope something good comes out of this!!!!! Quoting: gogo I probably will take him out GoGo but I'm not going to let this go until I know for sure what's in it. If it's just a pedometer, I'll return it and home school him again. It it's something more I'll go as far as I can with it. |

So many styles and colors, but that's exactly what it looks like is on your son's shoe. Quoting: withoutatrace Just take 10 seconds and LOOK! Now do the same image search for "shoe pedometer" and you'll see NOTHING like the photo your posted. It has no screen, likely no place for a cord to plug into. It means that any data on it must be transmitted wirelessly. Thus, RFID. It's an RFID tag! |

Quoting: DoodleBug Now that this is posted, I'll just go back to being a good little sheep and letting the schools put whatever they want on my child without consent and NEVER ask questions again as some of you have suggested. By the way, I was told that if I remove it or destroy it that I would be charged 100 bucks for it. That's one expensive "pedometer"! :shoe2: why did they first tell you the tribe did it? and then they told you they did it because you did not opt out? They supposedly sent her an option to "opt out" through THE MAIL. She never received it. That's how they are claiming she "assented." Yes, I know... I guess I should have asked if you asked them to clarify why at first they told you the tribe did it, and then later you were told about the opt-out form that THEY the school sent you, which you never received, indicating that the school and not the tribe did it. |

Spirituality is the opposite of religion, religion is a substitute for spirituality. Spirituality is a direct connection to Creator The Most high. Anyone who inflicts pain on others will suffer themself from that pain. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil. |

Two different people in two different buildings. First one was at the school, second person was at the admin building (superintendent' office) and the second person is saying that now it's the local co-op doing it. Like I said, too many conflicting answers to let this lie just yet. |

A group of Long Island students will soon be wearing controversial electronic monitors that allow school officials to track their physical activity around the clock. The athletics chair for the Bay Shore schools ordered 10 Polar Active monitors, at $90 a pop, for use starting this spring. The wristwatchlike devices count heartbeats, detect motion and even track students’ sleeping habits in a bid to combat obesity. The information is displayed on a color-coded screen and gets transmitted to a password-protected Web site that students and educators can access. The devices are already in use in school districts in St. Louis and South Orange, NJ — and have raised privacy concerns among some parents and observers." [link to vigilantcitizen.com] |

Give them the excuse your kid stepped in dog sh@t, you had him leave his shoes on the porch only to find a neighborhood fido enjoying their rfid treat. There is no way they could make you pay for the rfid in this case since you didnt remove it but are alerting them to the status of their equipment. This is quite interesting, i want to know what the guts of that thing looks like |

They can not make us keep it on the shoe and I'm super curious also but I'm not going to tamper with it in any way. It's going to the legal counsel as it sets, shoe and all. Regardless of what it is, everything needs to be documented very well from here on out. |

There are just as many criminals/pedophiles among those holding positions of authority over others as there out in the community. If I were a parent I'd be just as worried about the teacher/headmaster being a pedophile. Maybe we should chip teachers and Headmasters also so we can monitor them at all time and make sure they are not abusing their powers ? |
