I know a woman that homeschooled her children and taught piano and violin. One of her children majored in physics and graduated from the University of Chicago with a full scholarship. Her daughter received a full scholarship for violin and is attending the UofI.

She had to call the U of I more than once and persuade them to allow her first child to go.

IF you want to go badly enough, you WILL find a way. Did your mom do her homework and plan for it?

And you trust grades given out by schools who don't get paid unless their students get specific scores on specific tests?

If the University wants to judge his/her algebra, calculus, physics, and foreign language ability.. simply have him/her take the same entrance/placement exam I had to take when accepted into University.

College is a scam and a waste of time. Get out there and start working at whatever you can find. Don't toward the goal of making a bunch of money, just work as hard as you can for the sake of working. The money will come.

The University does not have to cater to the OP. They have to judge 10s of thousands of applicants.

The placement exams are reserved for students who already have enrolled in the University.

If the OP wants, he should be taking the SAT IIs, which are specialized exams for each subject which are standardized, and made for people applying to University.

I call troll - when I home schooled my son it was required to take yearly standardized tests - just like in school.

We parents loved them because our kids were always in the top percentiles above the public school kids.

Hell, my kids are in public school and I don't expect either one will be able to pass the ACT.

My oldest especially cause he's in special ed and they have only this year started him in any regular ed classes and he's in the 11th grade.

start with a community college. when I went back I didn't bother with the adult placement exams. I just showed up for the class. But I studied all summer and knew I was ready for math. The instructor saw that a few of us snuck in so he gave us a quiz the first day. Anyone failing the quiz was thrown out. I aced the quiz and got an A in the class. It was easy because I studied all summer. English, history and all that is easy if u apply yourself. Before u know it, you'll have a two year degree and can then attend most state colleges.

Funny, we use an online academy and even the US Air Force Academy is actively seeking home schooled cadets. I think you and the OP are silly little trolls and are utterly full of shit.

In fact, our son, at age 14 has already taken the PSAT and has qualified for consideration for the National Merit Scholarship.

And yes, theology is part of the curriculum, however, he also takes coursework in higher mathematics (pre-calculus and trigonometry at the moment), AP Chemistry, and Latin.

Go to a community college, or take the necessary tests. I undertand why they have regulations in place. All depends on how you get home schooled. Some probably get better educations then what is given in public schools and some are probably such a joke.

Oh absolutely, and the more fundamentalist Christian, the more idiotic the curriculum! They spend too much time on Bible thumping and nowhere near the time on a rigorous course in Latin, Mathematics, Science, Literature, History, Grammar, and Rhetoric.

It's the best use I could have made of my BS in Chemistry. Teaching my son has been difficult, but a great deal of fun as well.
