Re: GOOGLE'S PRIVACY CHANGES- A SIMPLE INSTANT CURE FOR EVERYONE
OK, so back to the guts of all this...

Google is proposing that they will share your personal information that they have collected on you, based on your "viewing" habits.

This is firstly a grab for profit, and it is at your expense, have they offered to pay you for this ?
Yet its your work...!!!

So...there is the first scam

Next...

Since when does any internet provider get the right to operate for years....gain some or a lot of credibility, and then with ALL that information stored for years, think that they now can change the rules and revert to use all that collected information, which was formally protected, to now be used for their financial gain.

What a load of crock, at what point will we ever be able to trust ANYONE OR ANYTHING again...???

This is utter BULLSHIT...yep...I said it!!!

So what are you going to do now?

Here's that secure web browser again...

[link to www.startpage.com (secure)]

nobody has put up any serious objections to it as yet, so I suggest that its worth using it!

It has been good enough to get me banned from GLP twice since I started using it because of IP address changes.

Sorry to GLP, if there are any really savy programers around, you might like to contact TRINITY and offer an alternative solution to avoid these automated banns so that we can still use this browser and GLP at the same time...please offer some help here, it cant be that difficult.

If you REALLY knew how to play the game, you would not close those accts......and here is why.

Closing them only places you in a catagory of resistance, more likely to fight and could be labeled in an ill manner.

Instead, use the system like a "good" boy. But keep your privacy off the net period. Maybe an alter ego online, or some form of deception tactic. If you are going to be labeled, what would you want that label to be? Make it happen, live in privacy.

We should not put our lives out there so much. That is the simplest and most effective answer.

Apparently some people had trouble remembering the name Ixquick, so when noted privacy expert Katherine Albrecht went to work for them, she added the domains startpage.com and startingpage.com

Glad this is finally getting some press; I've been recommending this since before starting existed, and there was only ixquick.
Example; [link to www.godlikeproductions.com]

Also, a great alternative to Chrome is the original Chromium, where Google stole Chrome from. You can even have both on the same computer. [link to www.readwriteweb.com]

Agreed!

I'd think that anyone who's been seriously concerned about privacy over the last few years would have great respect for Ms Albrecht. She also championed the resistance to those loyalty cards from grocery stores, etc.

That's why I didn't respond to the poster's challenging her. She has done enough for the cause... she needs no defense.

Just hope she beats that cancer... we can't afford to lose her.

Sorry A/c..I stopped looking at this thread several days ago when it dropped off the first couple of pages.

This happens quite often I'm learning when we post from Australia.

The reason I think this happens is that we and New Zealand really are the only English speaking nations in this time zone, and by the time England, the US and Europe get back onto GLP, weve retired and the rest of the world gets active here on GLP causing our threads to repidly drop down many pages, Ive just found this one on the last of 10 pages and I only discovered it by accident as there had been fresh posts on it that I had missed.

I was actually searching for another more recent thread that has also suffered the same effects, I am definately learning that with all the constantly changing time zones and wake and sleep patterns, that a constant forum like GLP has some unusual characteristics.

One thing I have been banned for was bumping my threads to keep them front page for long enough for enough viewers see it so that it could gain some momentum of its own...that practice was punished, I now question whether maybe that was completely fair under the circumstances, none the less..

So, my deepect and most humble appologies for my apparent but innocent missing of your request.

Please accept my apology.

All that "Enhanced by G00gle" means is that you are also getting results from the G00gle search engine thru an anonymous IP address, in addition to all their other search avenues.

Now if that bothers you, simply go to their original search engine at [link to www.ixquick.com (secure)] and use that one.
They do NOT use G00gle, in any way, shape or form, so you get the best of both worlds!

I grow tired of having to point this out, but startpage will not overcome the problem of "filter bubbles" (search for that on TED.com and listen to the 9 minute talk).

ixquick.com is as raw as it gets. I know it looks the same, but it isn't quite. It's COMPLETELY anonymous.
Be aware of what you KNOW and what you BELIEVE. Don't ever let what you believe block the path of knowledge, for knowledge is truth. Belief is a temporary crutch at best, and crutches are for disabled people.
