Re: GOOGLE'S PRIVACY CHANGES- A SIMPLE INSTANT CURE FOR EVERYONE
You've got to be kidding. Goggle has screwed up their search algorithms for the sake of ad revenue. They used have a decent search within search but they decided to lose that. It used to be that a search for a particular company would bring up that company url but now you get refering sites first.
"search algorithms are not a precise as google."

ROFLMAO

startpage works well, like a tor. however the search algorithms are not a precise as google.

Google's new algorithm sucks. I can't find what I am looking for any more.

You should see if you can Google a fix for it. ROFL
Sorry, wouldn't resist.

hahaha...sweet

love the humor...

should be a lot more of it.

And I have to say a HUGE thanks to everyone who has visited this thread, you have all been polite, decent and generous with all your information, and for that I commend and thank you all.

This site can be, well, a bit challenging, but Ive yet to suffer any real character attacks, so I do believe that there are a huge number of readers and contributors that have a pretty good level of intelect and Id like to thank you all for your participation.

I know that this might sound a bit self serving, but its not, its a recognisition and acknowledgement of respect of people who just care and want to contribute, ultimately this is what shapes our world, one person at a time...6 degrees of seperation, is what I'm told is the term today.

Thanks Arkay.

In recent times we have been told that Google intends to change its policies regarding sharing information it collects on us.

Naturally this is an untennable and totally obnoxious concept to our valued privacy.

Even Microsoft according to a side heading on todays GLP's main page..the third of Feb 2012, have very publicly criticized Google's intentions, with a heavy advertising campaign, and rightfully so.

Fortunately there is a simple cure that will circumvent this intrusion, all you need to do is to copy and paste the following into your existing browsers "Start Page"
I use IE, so I can only vouch for its use there and it appears to be functioning perfectly.

Here it is...

If anyone can find fault or further endorse this Im certain everyone will appreciate the information being supplied.

I have been using Start Page exclusively since Google announced its privacy changes. Start page is great, functions as well as Google, from what I can see. They act as a wall between you and Google...you submit your search question on Start Page....they submit it to Google so your IP is not seen...then they send the result back to you. So you are getting Google results without the Google intrusion. Start page is known as Ixquick in Europe, and was started by real privacy advocates who are devoted to this topic. They're also working on developing other products like mail that would be like Google's services, which are great products, IMHO, but without the loss of privacy and tracking. I'm moving away from Google in pretty much all areas myself. It's kind of sad for me as Google does make very useful products, but it's not worth the deal with the devil to keep using them.

Yep...good point.

My take on that would be that they might request a tiny donation that would allow them to employ some computer wiz kids and improve what they can offer, as previously stated, I'd be happy to pay say a $5.00 a year fee for a completely secure service and if another couple of million people did the same then google would look like mud.

Have a think about just how many people actually use their "service" today...for gods sake GLP gets over a million views a day...think about that for a bit!

I'll bet Trinity loves those figures, Ive been in business and if I could show my bank manager that activity, I know that he'd be taking me out for dinner at least once a week, every week!

I think they've changed the algorithms so they can block certain results, like anything emanating from alleged "conspiracy" radio shows or websites. This is a very dishonest practice. Not only are they tracking you, but they are also rigging the search results.

been using Scroogle SSL search for years. no complaints. google changes up the algo from time to time to screw with Scroogle servers so Scroogle will go down once in awhile. in that case just use Ixquick or Startpage until Scroogle adapts which usually only takes a few minutes.

NarusInsight and other programs of it's type probably capture all of your data anyway so your expectation of privacy should be around zero; one would be wise to act accordingly. Bottom line is whether it's a phone convo, email, shortwave or whatever, it all boils down to simple data that can be captured, filtered, and stored.

And people have been selling/buying information for a long time now. It's big money. Even if people think their information is worth nothing they have to ask themselves, why do they want it so badly if it was worthless? Obviously people are making money off it. Selling your phone number to marketing companies, selling your email to spam companies etc.

The entire internet is just one big corporate google and facebook network now we need to set up our own open source internet using our own servers.
If every internet user was willing to run a server and have a wireless hotspot we could build a separate network and make it wireless and free and have no corporate scum on it.

Startpage.com gives you google results, but you are not tracked or traced.

the only thing I don't like about startpage.com is that I hate Google, and want to avoid them entirely!

Check out fastmail. fastmail.com. I'm considering them myself. For a modest $40 a year, looks like they give you all kinds of stuff. They have free services also. There are a lot of email providers out there. Maybe not as easy to sign up for if you want a spur of the moment account, or multiple accounts, but more secure hopefully. Anything that doesn't feed the Googlebeast is good at this point.

It is not the algos, I suspect they remain almost the same... It is an overload of indexed information that piles up over the good results. The same process was seen during the AltaVista evolution.

The more they indexed the worst were the results.
