Re: GOOGLE'S PRIVACY CHANGES- A SIMPLE INSTANT CURE FOR EVERYONE
Google uses something called "GOOGLE ANALYTICS". Its hidden in MOST website. For non tech savyy people, you dont even know its there. Its called a "script". They are used to build websites and also hidden in the ads. Google is so big now, most domains and website developers use Google scripts. Mostly because of ease of use, advertising, and popularity. That is their tracking mechanism. If you right click on a website and select "page source" and search "Google". You will get TONS of scripts hidden within these pages. For example if you go to Facebook, you will see these scripts being used. Hence the ads on the right tailored to ONLY you and your "likes".

You are 100% correct, but if you load up the host file on your pc from this site, [link to winhelp2002.mvps.org]
your browser wont load anything from google, or the hundreds of other tracking sites. It also wont load any of the ad's that surround this site, (bonus).

Your web browser will speed up at least 10 times as its not sending and receiving tracking cookies all over the place.

Try it, it does work, and Google wont be getting any info from you, (shame).

In recent times we have been told that Google intends to change its policies regarding sharing information it collects on us.

Naturally this is an untennable and totally obnoxious concept to our valued privacy.

Even Microsoft according to a side heading on todays GLP's main page..the third of Feb 2012, have very publicly criticized Google's intentions, with a heavy advertising campaign, and rightfully so.

Fortunately there is a simple cure that will circumvent this intrusion, all you need to do is to copy and paste the following into your existing browsers "Start Page"
I use IE, so I can only vouch for its use there and it appears to be functioning perfectly.

Here it is...

I know there is another post today on using alternative search engines to protect data collection from Google. That only hides your searches and is only a part of the problem. They still track you through the actual websites you visit via IP address and other forms which i will explain. It doesnt matter what platform you use for searches OR email. Google, yahoo, hotmail or Bing, it doesnt matter they are All interconnected through big corporations which sell your data at the highest bidder (google and Homeland Security). They are ALL being tracked by Google.

Google uses something called "GOOGLE ANALYTICS". Its hidden in MOST website. For non tech savyy people, you dont even know its there. Its called a "script". For example if you go to Facebook, you will see these scripts being used. Hence the ads on the right tailored to ONLY you and your "likes".

So when you visit all these sites, that data is collected in a big f*cking Google database which is tailored to your IP address. Just from your algorithms they can sense who you are from other computers. Pretty scary sh*t huh? To top it off, Google is also intertwined with the NSA. [link to www.pcworld.com] . Their excuse is saying they are using the NSA for "technical assistance". They want data on everyone who uses the web. This will eventually lead to who will be ALLOWED on the web when they start assigning licensing through facial recognition, thumb print, or smartcard scanning (RFID).Which these Bill’s they are trying to pass, will eventually lead to that.

If you want REAL privacy for an email account that isn’t being tracked, look for private encrypted email services, such as mutemail.com or hushmail.com. It encrypts ALL traffic email on offshore servers where privacy laws are more strict internationally. Using hotmail or yahoo or something "mainstream is just as bad. I use to think the same until i got more involved with IT and hacking.

If you want REAL website browsing privacy, you can do two things. To hide your IP address, there are multiple software programs available to you as a low price to hide your identity. Sometimes, this can even be no good because some websites like Google or godlikeproductions, won’t even allow you on their site because they can sense you are using a IP address hider. So to at least hide your algorithms, you can use a Google analytics script blocker. DO NOT USE THE ONE GOOGLE PROVIDES. And yes, use Startpage.com or Scroogle.org, to do your searches. Re: GOOGLE'S PRIVACY CHANGES- A SIMPLE INSTANT CURE FOR EVERYONE
Anytime you perform a Google search it’s logged. Your computer’s IP address and cookie (unique identifiers that can essentially pinpoint you and your location) are also included, so your computer’s entire search history is archived.

When you receive an email through Gmail, or a voicemail on the Google Voice service, it’s archived on their servers. Even if you delete the messages, there’s still a copy on Google’s servers. The marginal cost of digital storage is so ridiculously cheap that they have little reason to delete this data.

Then, of course, there are all the government requests for user data. In the first half of 2011, the US government requested information on over 11,000 Google accounts. Google complied with a full 93% of those requests. Your account might have been one of them, and you would never know.

It’s not just Google either. Between Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and AOL, the four companies power the email accounts of over 1 billion people. And all of them are in bed with the US government.

Consider using an offshore email provider that can securely host your account abroad. There are a number of them available, services like:

secure.runbox.com/ (Norway)

www.SwissMail.org/ (Switzerland)

www.NeoMailbox.com/ (Switzerland)

what about using peerblock in assistance to a firewall?

any pro/con thoughts on peerblock? has like a million IP's in its' list already to block, and in addition to a restrictive firewall it can help prevent ads, spyware, and shit.

you can also put in google's IP in peerblock or your own firewall, that might help.

but what dude said about scripts in everything, that's a bitch!

All the search engines will track you. All the free email services will keep your messages. There is no such thing as privacy.

Either stop using the internet communication methods, or get used to a record of you existing. Everything you say on GLP gets recorded and saved. Everything you say on here can and will be used against you.

Don't you guys see the ridiculousness of how you are reacting to this Google thing?

Go create a thread. Then immediately search Google for that thread. It shows up immediately. Why?

See...there is no such thing as privacy, and you also need to prioritize your outrage.
