You all need to watch this film from the 80's [ link to www.imdb.com] It is all about Russia invading Iran and the American go there to protect but triggers an Nuclear war with 3000 megatons exchanged between the east and west. Its a bit low budget, set in sheffield UK with a few nukes hitting the UK and its the after affects of the bombs which is really hard hitting.
