Concerns grow over volcanic eruptions
Now, new research is changing scientists' understanding of the timing of those eruptions, and prompting them to call for greater monitoring of sites to help save lives when the next big volcano explodes.
Two recent papers highlight the shift. One looked at a Death Valley volcano thought to be 10,000 years old and found it last erupted just 800 years ago, and is still an eruption danger. The other found that large caldera volcanoes, such as the one under Crater Lake in Oregon, can recharge in a matter of decades, rather than the thousands of years previously thought.
"The understanding of the timing of eruptions and the timing of the building up to eruptions is changing," says Margaret Mangan, the scientist in charge of volcano monitoring in California for the U.S. Geological Survey. "These two papers are very nice examples of good scientific work."

As long as the sun remains in it's active stage volcanoes will be a bigger threat. So, the next couple of years will be interesting. They will give all us doom-tards something to talk about for a while.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Re: Concerns grow over volcanic eruptions
Interesting. In light of some recent volcano dreams some people have been reporting. I am not given to vision or dreams or that sort of stuff, but I even had one unusually disturbing and vividly detailed dream last year about a volcano right outside my house and I live no where near any known volcanic activity.

I always have to laugh when scientists have a revelation that contradicts older established theories. For years and years they have been telling us that massive geologic events have to take thousands and millions of years. Now, they have decided that domant volcanoes could pop there top in a few decades. That's less than a lifetime folks. Yep, fresh doom can strike anywhere any time.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

Re: Concerns grow over volcanic eruptions
Tons of EQs & Volcanic activity would line up real nice with the "Fire & Brimstone" from the religion.

(Disclaimer: I, myself, do not believe in religion "by the book" so to speak. I believe that the books followed in religion, may contain vital information about what has gone on here in the past, and what may be to come in our future. I believe there is a "god" in some form, because this whole universe and it's contents didn't just magically appear. "Who" or "What" that god is, is up to you to determine) However, to believe word for word that how religion is spoken, is, in my opinion, insane. Religion is like one big game of "telephone"...You start out with telling the story of an original event or events, and as the story gets "passed down the line", it gets altered, and changed over time...and not always for the better. Not to mention, that words & phrases they used back then to describe things...aren't the same as how we'd explain the same things that happened most likely.

Sorry, had to get that outta the way, since I know some people will say my interpretation of God is wrong, and I'm going to hell for not believing in the "good book"...while others will insult me for believing there's a god in any form. But, since I made a reference to something found in scripture...I deemed it necessary to explain my P.O.V.

I believe there's more known about the history of man, and what things are in our future, than what we're openly told. Religion itself, I believe, is a good moral compass to follow. The stories of some events in religion, I believe occurred, but not necessarily in the way they're described or interpreted by people.

But, if we knew these things for sure...Man would have a harder time controlling people, and that's ultimately what all governing bodies want, is control. It would be one less thing for us all to be divided about, and one less tool for them to use to keep us all against one another. In fact, the biggest tool used...because everyone claims their story is right, so we fight one another about who's doing what things right in life. If we all knew how we came to exist, and what, if anything, happens after this life here is over...they'd have nothing else to hold against us. We all live, breath, and eat the same...need the same things to live. We all want to love, and be loved, and be happy. If we all knew the answer, and knew what would bring us that, we'd have no reason to fight anymore...because we'd all be trying to accomplish the same thing, the same way. Right now, we're all trying to accomplish that...but we're all doing it different ways, according to what "story" we're told.

Sorry for the rant again, but, sometimes it's good to get things like that off your chest. Sorry for those I offend, upset, or dislike my thought process.
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."

Very interesting that these type of stories are starting to get more coverage by the MSM.

Makes you wonder if this the elites way of telling us that that proverbial shit is about to hit the fan.
