I haven't used shampoo for my hair for YEARS, shampoo is useless.

And you live in Greenland where it is cold, I know if you tend to have oily skin and live in Florida, you'll smell awful in no time. Maybe if you are using something else to reduce the oil it will fly.

I have oily skin and live in Louisiana. I use baking soda and apple cider vinegar and it has actually helped with the oily skin.

Apple cider is smelly stuff, do you smell of it afterward? Do you use something to cut the smell?

ewwww! gross. you may not think your scalp smells, but it does. my boyfriends sister tried this. She too, thought her scalp didn't smell. Well, it did!! It smelled really bad and musty. You need to use at least a mild shampoo. You can buy good ones that don't contain sulphates.

Alright, people in 'advanced' western countries bathe too much and strip valuable oils from their scalp and skin. It's not necessary [unless you work in a coal mine or engaged in vigorous, sweaty physical activity] to shower/bathe as often as most people do. It's one of the main causes for dry skin, dermatitis, eczema, etc.,

I use baby shampoo for my head scalp, face and body. That's it. And it's nothing fancy, just cheap ass generic baby shampoo. When I don't feel like washing,I'll use something like baby oil or a simple skin moisturizer, and wash my face, goatee, head [my hair is almost buzzed off] massage a little and wipe off with a towel, no water. And I'm fine. No dry skin, eczema, dermatitis, nothing. And my hair, skin, facial hair is nice, soft and clean.

Throw away all the fancy ass shampoos, conditioners, moisturizers, etc. you don't need them and they're probably causing more harm than good. In addition, many people develop allergic reactions to especially the filler ingredients used to cut these products.

Not using soap on your hair is like after an intense workout, you don't shower. you just wipe you underarms. you will reek!

Kiel's makes awesome shampoos with no sulfates or crap in them. They smell really good! The very least, you need a mild shampoo.

Companies that sell and market these products especially target women and girls by playing on their fears of being 'dirty', 'smelly', etc., The marketing is all based [like marketing for many other products and services] on making people feel inferior if they don't use this product or service. Selling and marketing is usually simply about playing on people's fears, inferiority complex, etc.,

I stopped washing my hair with shampoo when I was about 19 years old, now 32. I rinse and scrub my head vigorously with only water. People are somewhat shocked when I tell them that, but my hair styles perfectly, I never have flakes on my shoulders, and have never been told my hair has a bad odor. Also my hair stylist insists eveytime I go to see her for my haircut every two weeks my hair keeps getting thicker and thicker, and as I age I would think I should have the opposite problem. No hippie here very clean cut, glad some others have learned not to destroy their hair w all those chemicals etc..

I recently developed a scalp problem and surprise surprise, my hair started thinning. I immediately switched to an organic shampoo, but things havent really gotten much better. I still have an itchy, flaky scalp and my hair is thinning fairly fast. Male pattern baldess (sort of) runs in my family. My dad is losing his hair at 53 and has been for about 10 years. My younger brother is losing his already and hes only 25, though he still uses name brand shampoos with SLS. Maybe I'll try the no shampoo thing and see what happens. Problem is I have super oily skin. I'm willing to try it though.

My hair started thinning due to stress when my daughter had an accident and multiple surgeries. Fortunately, no one has noticed but me because I have super curly hair.

I've only been 'no poo' for a little over a month now and last week, while putting on an avocado and egg mask on my hair, I noticed lots of new hair growth along my hairline and near my temples - almost a quarter inch! And, it's coming in my original color and not gray.

It's apparently a big secret-- just stop putting sodium lauryl sulfate in your fucking hair. It's making you go bald fellas. It's giving you split ends and frizz, gentlewomen.

Your hair won't stink; in fact, you will smell more of your body's pheromones; the compounds that tell the opposite sex, "Hey. You there, with the cute face. Be attracted to me."

You are not only paying for your scalp's demise, you're actively applying the poisons that do it to you.
Quit that.

Jesus.

(Disclaimer-- Alot of retardedly expensive "organic" shampoos lack this compound, and aren't bad for your hair. They just strip your hair of all the natural, necessary oils your body produces specifically to nourish your follicles, and then (if you condition as well) puts back the wrong sort of oil to do the same job. Herp.

Google JABON DE TIERRA, JABON DE LA TIERRA

you would think it smells bad but it doesnt. and you can put some natural essences/fragrances.
sorry for last post translation, was made automatically from a site in spanish.

Over washing will make your scalp produce even more oil. Use baking soda and vinegar if you like a few times per week and the oil will be less eventually. Just wash with water in between.

If you have naturally oily hair, baking soda will remove it. Otherwise use about a pint or two of warm distilled water.. rinse through hair thoroughly, then dry with a clean towel. Comb or brush and let dry. Warm distilled water will dissolve and remove much of the oil and any dirt.
