Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5449673 Why would Iran be allowed to dock its warship in Jeddah? Why would Saudis allow this? Specially when Iran claiming it to be a show of power. Is there a rule somewhere that says they are not allowed to prevent Iran from docking in their port? I agree. Saudi Arabia hasn't been friendly to Iran in the past, so this is odd. |

The trouble is Saudi was just publiclt threatened that if it's land or assets were used to bomb Syria or Iran its would be wiped out ! So Iran owns them !Birds of a feather flock together ! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 10113684 United Kingdom 02/05/2012 01:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to rt.com] Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10200188 Two Iranian naval ships have docked in the Saudi port of Jeddah. Iranian officials say the move aims to project the country's "power on the open seas" and “confront Iranophobia.” The supply ship Kharg and destroyer Shaid Qandi docked on Saturday in the Red Sea port in line with orders from the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iran’s news agency, Fars. I thought Iran and SA hated each other? I didn't think they were on 'just park your two warships here, we dont have a problem with that' terms. |

Tholidor User ID: 469440 United States 02/05/2012 01:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hmmmmm. Curiouser and curiouser! An Iranian military cargo ship, with a destroyer escort, steams boldly into a Saudi port without apparent objection. The question becomes "why?". To pick up and/or deliver cargo it would seem. Now we must ask, "What cargo is valuable enough to require a destroyer escort?" This one bears watching. Thanks OP Overheard on the Heavenly Intercom: "Hey Moses! There's a fella at the front gate named Steve Jobs. He says he's here to upgrade your tablets..." |

They want someone, anyone to attack them because that is the only thing that might keep them from the Arab Spring infection where the people actually demand more rights. For that, President Nutter-job has to have an outside enemy. Anyway, the main question to ask is: Are they using oarsmen or just sails? Probably the only "naval" ships they have. The rest are oil tankers. Just about any country in the region and elsewhere can blow their paranoid butts out of the water. And all this because their Little Napoleon of a President wants to have big bombs to make up for the little one in his pants. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 8925069 United States 02/05/2012 03:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I am sure that Iran would not be allowed to dock its destroyer in Israeli/USA or UK docks. So how the hell are they able to dock in Jeddah? Specially after the conflicts in the last few month. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5449673 I have read this news in different sources over and over again and yet not a single one of them offers any explanation. More surprising is why no GLP poster has asked this question up to now. I have searched the web and have found no answer. It's not unusual for different countries to allow other nations ships, yes, even war ships, to dock in their ports. The U.S. docks in China's ports at times. Even the Russians have been in San Diago at times. The Saudis and Iranians have diplomatic ties and trade. This is not a big deal or all that unusual. |
