Conflict Syria - The Real Story - [READ THIS]
Free Syrian Army is a military coup....

The Free Syrian Army is the main opposition army group in Syria. It is composed of defected Syrian Armed Forces personnel, who have been active during the Syrian Uprising. The formation of the opposition army group was announced on 29 July 2011 in a web video released by a group of uniformed defectors from the Syrian military, who called upon members of the army to defect and join them. The leader of the men, who identified himself as Colonel Riad al-Asaad, announced that the FSA would work with demonstrators to bring down the system and declared that all security forces attacking civilians are justified targets. Riad al-Asaad has stated that the Free Syrian Army has no political goals except the liberation of Syria from Bashar Assad's government. The FSA has also stated that the conflict is not sectarian, and that they have in their ranks Alawis who oppose the government, and that there will be no reprisals when it falls. On 23 September 2011, the Free Syrian Army merged with the Free Officers Movement and became the main opposition army group. By early December, there were an estimated 15,000 to 25,000 defectors from the armed forces according to activist and media sources, western intelligence sources estimated greater than 10,000 defectors, By the middle of January, the Free Syrian Army reported because of continuing defections a total of 40,000 men in its ranks. The actual number of soldiers defecting to the Free Syrian Army is unknown.

Explaining The Syrian Uprising (part of the Arab spring)

Goals -

Resignation of Bashar al-Assad
Democratic reforms
Regime change
Expanded civil rights
Recognition of Kurdish rights
Abolition of the Supreme State Security Court
Lifting of the emergency law

Characteristics -

Assassinations (government claim)
Civil resistance
Calls for sanctions
Demonstrations
General Strikes
Hacktivism
Hunger strikes
Insurgency by defectors
Mutiny Self-immolations
Suicide bombings (disputed, government claim) Sit-ins
Violent resistance in Homs (beginning in September), Hama, Daraa, Idlib, Douma, Zabadani, Saqba, rural Damascus, and Rankous.

Concessions given -

Emergency law lifted
Supreme State Security Court abolished
5,994 political prisoners released out of 30,000 detained
General amnesty from 15 March 2011 – 31 January 2012
Local administration reformed
Tax cuts
Increase in public sector salary
Citizenship granted to Kurds

So the Syrian government has given into all their demands except the president himself stepping down... what!!! you say, thats correct all the concessions are meeting the demands of the Free Syrian Army (FSA)

So why the military coup is still active?

Simply because of one man President Assad.

Now the FSA, have about 40,000 active members amongst it's ranks...

The population of Syria is 22,000,000 people.

The president is responsible for the safety of 22,000,000 people.

Think about this, if a president has given concessions based on the FSA demands, all that is left is the rest of the 22,000,000 millions he needs to keep safe.

Free Syrian Army is attacking and defying the government and taking on the Syrian Army, the Syrian Army is in charge of protecting the interests of government and people of Syria.

It's their doctrine to uphold the current Syrian regime...

President Assad has promised and is delivering on a more democratic infrastructure shifting from the old days to the new, effectively listening to the needs and wants of the Arab Spring movement..

Now I want to put this into perspective, if the government of any country is being overthrown by a faction of ex-military personnel, then violence will ensue, and civilians will get caught in the middle.

People blame Hamas for hiding within civilians when they are attacked using "Human Shields" as part of thief tactics. Well the free Syrian Army is doing exactly the same. They continue to threaten and attack the majority of Syria and that's a fact.

Assad has no choice but to tackle this situation head on, the Syrian army are defending their government infrastructure and military institutions...

Now CNN and the UN fully back the Free Syrian Army, for reasons unknown to me.... most of you probably come to the same conclusion of possibility like me, from what I can see some outside influences have infiltrated themselves into the FSA, groups like the Muslim brotherhood and possibly al-Qaeda insurgents hell bent of utilizing the situation for their own purposes. However the latter I doubt, because I have always thought of al-Qaeda as a non existent group... I really don't know why a military coup by a minority is gaining so much support, if anything they are terrorizing Syria and using it's locals as bait to draw the outside world into supporting a cause for regime change...

Who does that support outside of Syria?

Is this situation benefiting certain groups with a possible Iran invasion on the cards?

All you have to ask yourself is that if a military coup of minority was happening on your country and they tried taking over the leadership, Wouldn't the areas of occupation by the minority forces be under the threat of violence and conflict?

Syrian Cities, (SANA)-Masses of Syrian citizens in a number of cities Sunday appreciated Russia and China for their support to Syria in the face of foreign conspiracy, backing its independent national decision and rejecting the foreign intervention in the country's domestic affairs.

In Damascus, hundreds of citizens gathered at al-Saba Bahrat main square to thank Russia and China for their veto at the UN Security Council, showing support to the comprehensive reform program led by President Bashar al-Assad. Political, media and religious figures from Syria and Lebanon participated in the march.

Geo-political opportunism is why they garner outside support. There's always a play somewhere.

Tightening economic screws tends to foster conflict. Conflict opens the door for influence.

Yeah well I'm watching MSM and it's doing my head in.

Not one program is mentioning the hundreds of thousands if not millions of Syrians that support the crackdown....

The minority military coup is trying to over throw the government....

Most of Syria don't want that, that's for sure.

Even Hillary talking crap saying it's the UN vetos were a travisity, is atrocious. she of all people knows the real story. so what's her deal....??

hillary

My assumptions are they need that part of the middle east in chaos before the Iran green light.... especially for her to be so strong to support a minority military coup.

I would love to see what America would do if 40,000 rebels and defected officers were trying to grab the seat of the President....

It's some hell of a psy op we are witness too, well the people who know the real story that is...

Damascus - Syrian authorities on Monday said armed "terrorist gangs" were behind the latest violence in Homs, where activists accused government forces of launching a fierce assault on the flashpoint city.

It added that "terrorist gangs" were also attacking citizens and security forces in various districts of the city.

The official news agency SANA said "terrorist gangs" were also shelling the Baba Amro neighbourhood of Homs and that armed men were deploying in other neighbourhoods.

It also accused armed gangs of attacking public and private buildings in the town of Zabadani, near the capital Damascus. -AFP

WELL DONE!!!!

YES, right now these armed gangs are shelling Baba Amro as well as they also attacked a bus carrying workers in HOMS!

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! Assad has done EVERYTHING they asked for, he even is holding Parliament elections in March followed by Presidential elections in May/June!!! But with this lack of security, it will be difficult to pull off, propbably have lower voter turnout again like when they voted a couple months ago.

I hope Assad defeats those criminals who are shooting heavy artillery into civilian homes and even kill children. That's not the soldiers of Assad doing this, because a true soldier doesn't kill the children in his country, he may kill a terrorist, but no women and children.

Thanks for spreading the truth! 5*'s and PIN! More people need to see this to open their eyes to what is happening.

Most of the Fake Syrians Army are the NATO mercenaries - same guys used in Iraq, Libya, your little Qaeda actor stooges strung out on drugs professionally trained killers, that's who the FSA mostly are. The "few" defectors that really got either coaxed into this by being promised lots of stuff from the West (just like Libya scenario) - plus some Syrians who were trained in bases in Turkey and elsewhere, those are very few.

EVERY SINGLE DEAD PERSON IN SYRIA SINCE THIS "UPRISING" IS NATO'S/US/ISRAEL'S RESPONSIBILITY!!!

Millions of Syrians support President Assad and what his government are doing to end this.

PS: I saw Syrians in neighborhood of Homs asking for Assads Military to come and help them get rid of these armed gangs that are shelling their neighborhoods. The people there know. But they always do this at night, when it's impossible for the outsiders to see who is REALLY doing the attacking!

I dont post here very often but I wanted to say thanks for the thread. Hubby and I were just discussing this earlier today looking at some protests that occurred here in Australia.

What you've explained makes a lot of sense and has helped me to put this conflict into a better perspective. I always suspected it was something similar to what went down in Libya.

It is very interesting to learn he has conceeded to all their demands except to step down ... but even in this, he has offered to hold elections.

I'm intrigued to learn that the FSA were "uniformed" during their video announcement. Do you know if they are wearing the uniform of the official Syrian military? And if so, are they wearing that same uniform when they fight? If they are indeed wearing the official army uniform, it would be very easy to carry out attacks and blame it on the govt forces. Even so, these are defectors --- I highly doubt they turned in their official uniform when they left, so they would still be in possession of their govt issued uniforms.

From what I have seen some of the higher ranks of FSA wear similar uniforms with a different logo but most of the outsiders and insurgents that have joined wear rag tag robes and garb, and yes it would be very easy for them to carry out attacks and blame it on the Syrian Army.

I'm glad you understand the conflict better and can see the real story, right now the US is ratcheting up the propaganda in an attempt to undermine the current Syrian government. Why the US get away with this is beyond me....

Apparently it's a civil war, have you ever heard of 40,000 detectors and their supporters taking on 22,000,000 local happy civilians and it being called a civil war?? only MSM, it's crazy... It really does show you the ability this networks have to control the uneducated masses...

Thanks to internet we can expose these lies, even if the MSM propaganda does get pinned and the real story doesn't..

GOVERNORATES, (SANA)- Terrorist groups continued armed attacks in Homs, Idleb and Damascus countryside targeting civilians and military personnel, and shelled residential areas with mortar shells and vandalized public and private facilities, not sparing even mosques to which citizens turned for protection.

The terrorist groups on Monday attacked citizens and law-enforcement members at several areas in Homs, and the authorities have been pursuing and clashing with them.

A citizen was shot in the head while he was on his way to work in Homs, while gunman are terrorizing civilians in al-Waer neighborhood in the city.

Authorities stormed the hideouts of the armed terrorist groups in Douma fields in Damascus Countryside, killed few gunmen and arrested few others.

Meanwhile the most brutal, UNDEMOCRATIC regimes are backed by US becasue they comply with the zionist world gov agenda- Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Morrocco, Jordan.
