christianity has already been sidelined, and is not a threat. islam is currently spreading west into europe, south into central africa, east into india and china, and north into the former soviet union/russia. so, no, religion is coming back with a bang. if you don't believe me take a demographic map of the areas surrounding the middle east 50 years ago, and compare it to a demographic map of the areas surrounding the middle east now. you'll see massive rises in percentage of islamic people, and large influxes of arabs. the wars are coming. every country that reaches over a 4th or so islam in their population descends into civil war until an islamic state is established under sharia or something like sharia.
