You sure about that? This yank has nothing but respect for southerners. And anytime I've seen a southerner up here, he/she has been treated warmly. Yanks don't drive around with disparaging bumper stickers about the south.

However, I have been in southern states and sometimes been treated poorly once they heard my northern accent - and I'm VERY careful to be pushy and rude, as I admit yanks can be. And I've seen bumper stickers that say "Happiness is a north-bound yankee."

I would love to relocate to the south but I'm concerned that I will never truly be assimilated, unless I move to one of those areas that already are a haven for northern transplants.
