Nothing wrong with the Moon. What you are seeing is called field rotation. It is an APPARENT (not real) rotation that happens to everything in the sky. It is because you are looking at it from a round rotating surface.

The Moon's shadow is still left to right. The North pole of the Moon still points to the North. YOU are the one that turned. It is an optical illusion known as field rotation. When the Moon (or anything else in the sky) rises you are looking East and it APPEARS rotated to the left. When high in the sky you are looking South and it is upright. When it sets you are looking West and it APPEARS rotated to the right.

How do we know it is not a real rotation? First, YOU turned. When the Moon is just past the highest point in the sky you can see it both ways. Look South and you see the shadow on the left, look West and up and you see the shadow on top. Magic! Second, when we see it setting and appears to be rotated to the right, somebody on the other side of the world sees it rising AT THE SAME TIME and sees it appearing to be rotated to the left!

If you watch it all night you'll see it appear to rotate clockwise. Around midnight it will appear to be upright (when you're looking South) and tomorrow morning it will appear to be rotated to the right (when you're looking West).

When I speak of the "Man in the moon" I mean, when you look up at the moon, you can see a "face" of the moon. Never, have I remembered when growing up, the moon's face being on his side. I just looked at the moon again, several hours later, and it's still crooked like it was before.

It hasn't tilted like this before. My parents can never recall growing up and seeing it on its side every night like it is right now.

yes it has. you just never noticed it before. When appearing to be tilted to the left YOU are looking East. When tilted to the right, YOU are looking West. It happens to the Moon and everything else in the sky.
Astronomers have always known to adjust for this apparent rotation. Have they been lying for thousands of years?

The crescent Moon above over the ball field was near setting hence appearing to be turned to the right. It was in the summer when the sun is on a higher path and the crescent is on a lower so the amount of tilt is less than in the winter (second pic on flickr)when the sun is on a lower path and the crescent moon is on a higher path.

When you watch the Orion for example
they look at the beginning straight upright
in the middle it look like flat
and in the morning it is standing upside down
because we are moving so quick!

actually iv seen it many many times sideways.. it usually doesnt stay sideways for long.. it just represents to me changing of the timeline when that is happening.. relax i know the moon well and she does flip around when change is in the air..

It won't happen. They keep cutting NASA funding, putting that mission WAY off, although there are some good strides going on in the public sector. I just wish there was more funding for SpaceX, Scaled Composites, and NASA. SpaceX and Scaled are the only way Americans can get to space.

You are absolutely right. I am on the west coast and the "man in the Moon" is crooked.
Nowhere near the way I've seen it for years as I was a kid up until fairly recently.

Something is perturbing the Moon I believe, or like you said perturbing our Earth, or both...
