On a side note the MSM said this year in America the flu was bad because they didn't put the right strains in the vaccine.

If that is the case why didn't they change the variants in the Australian flu vaccine for this season? Instead we have the same vaccine as the US?

Regrettably, the answer has already been answered with the Greek experience where they have already experienced some problems that have been blamed on their financial crisis.

Even America recently ramped up its own health care commitments which had been lagging, again as a result of the GFC.

Sorry I dont have any links for these comments, they are just snippets Ive picked up on over time through reading all sorts of articles.

From the top post from uk anon, this paragraph Ive coppied regarding H3N2v which is the influenza virus that emerged and was associated with County Fairs in the US late last year.

From the number of reported cases it would appear that it did a good job of making its presence felt, and of course wasnt and also isnt in this years flu jab.

Novel Influenza A VirusNo new human infections with novel influenza A viruses were reported to CDC during week 11.

A total of 312 infections with variant influenza viruses (308 H3N2v viruses, 3 H1N2v viruses, and 1 H1N1v virus) have been reported from 11 states since July 2012. More information about H3N2v infections can be found at [link to www.cdc.gov]

Link here...

[link to www.cdc.gov]

And from the same CDC report, is this associated information regarding the what the vaccine was comprized of and also the broader breakdown of infection numbers in the US.

Antigenic Characterization
CDC has antigenically characterized 1,695 influenza viruses [141 2009 H1N1 viruses, 1,012 influenza A (H3N2) viruses, and 542 influenza B viruses] collected by U.S. laboratories since October 1, 2012.

2009 H1N1 [141]:

•138 (97.9%) of the 141 2009 H1N1 viruses tested were characterized as A/California/7/2009-like, the influenza A (H1N1) component of the 2012-2013 influenza vaccine for the Northern Hemisphere.
•3 (2.1%) of the 141 2009 H1N1 viruses tested showed reduced titers with antiserum produced against A/California/7/2009.
Influenza A (H3N2) [1,012]:

•1,008 (99.6%) of the 1,012 H3N2 influenza viruses tested have been characterized as A/Victoria/361/2011-like, the influenza A (H3N2) component of the 2012-2013 Northern Hemisphere influenza vaccine.
•4 (0.4%) of the 1,012 H3N2 viruses tested showed reduced titers with antiserum produced against A/Victoria/361/2011.
Influenza B (B/Yamagata/16/88 and B/Victoria/02/87 lineages) [542]:

•Yamagata Lineage [383]: 383 (70.7%) of the 542 influenza B viruses tested so far this season have been characterized as B/Wisconsin/1/2010-like, the influenza B component of the 2012-2013 Northern Hemisphere influenza vaccine.

•Victoria Lineage [159]: 159 (29.3%) of 542 influenza B viruses tested have been from the B/Victoria lineage of viruses.

Composition of the 2013-2014 Influenza Vaccine
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended vaccine viruses for the 2013-2014 Northern Hemisphere vaccines, and the Food and Drug Administration’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) has made recommendations for the composition of the 2013-2014 influenza vaccines to be used in the United States. Both agencies recommend that trivalent vaccines contain an A/California/7/2009-like (2009 H1N1) virus, an A(H3N2) virus antigenically like the cell-propagated, or cell-grown, virus A/Victoria/361/2011 (A/Texas/50/2012), and a B/Massachusetts/2/2012-like (B/Yamagata lineage) virus. It is recommended that quadrivalent vaccines containing an additional influenza B virus contain a B/Brisbane/60/2008-like (B/Victoria lineage) virus in addition to the viruses recommended for the trivalent vaccines. These recommendations were based on global influenza virus surveillance data related to epidemiology and antigenic characteristics, serological responses to 2012-2013 seasonal vaccines, and the availability of candidate strains and reagents.

I agree with you on that.

If we only had a crystal ball, and Im certain that those that make the decisions on what to include do it feeling a very heavy burdon of responsibility, one I hasten to add that I wouldnt enjoy having.

If theres a good side to it, the H3N2v strain appears to be pretty contagous but also typical of other seasonal flu strains in that it doesent appear to be any deadlier than those more common seasonal strains, fortunately.

That was what I was inferring yesterday when you mentioned the various animals and birds, their food sources and that direct food chain, its worth thinking about but one hell of a job to backtrack to reveal it as the possible vector.

Like you though, I do think its very possible and would account for the difficulties in tracing vectors and reservoirs.

I should have also said that I hope that you are comfortable, wrapped up and warm, sounds like hot chocolate might be the order of the day.

Its been many years since Ive lived in really harsh conditions and its amazing just how much we humans do acclimatize.

Im sure that you have a similar but reverse experience to mine?

I went to Cairns a few years ago, in winter, and all the locals were wearing coats, etc.

Even though I came from a place that almost never has single figure night time temps, at the time I was completely comfortable walking around in a light short sleeved shirt, shorts and sandals.

We really do adjust to out environment, I just wonter about short term exposures, well fear might be a better description!

That is a very good document.

Fruit and bats, oh yes!

You have the two right there, friutbats, so fruit eating bats.

Your theory gains credibility, and a lot of it.

We have the awful things here, and they really arent very endearing.

Very noisy and smelly when they colonize, which is common and did you know that their digestive system is best described as incomplete, they eat and semi digest their fruit meals then instead of the usual trip through the body, these creatures simply vomit the food back out of their mouths.

There are some good reasons when you spend most of your life upside down, why you might want to do this and it probably is an efficient way to digest and dispose of the unwanted remains, but these critters really do have some bad manners when it comes to the after meal ablutions.

If anyone has a car and left it in the open overnight they will know what a mess this makes, its highly acidic and will damage paintwork pretty quickly if left, not to mention how quickly it becomes a part of the vehicle after the sun had had a bit of fun with it too.

But seriously, with these living arrangements and the possibility of carrying disease, the ability to spread it is considerably hightened as this finished meal can be disposed of anywhere and usually its done in flight, again spreading disease all over the place instead of at the normal roosting place of other types of bats.

Very good work on this thread. We have had a slowdown on coronavirus news for the past week or so, besides the reg news of nothing new. They can't pin it down and thats all they really are saying. They don't want to blame it all on SA just yet. Today, they will probably spring some 2 week old news on us. This is the reg pattern. 10 days to 2 weeks, then a death or announcement.
I notice my site has had some interesting activities, even though I have posted very little this past week or so. In another vein, H5N1 has practically evaporated in recent weeks, especially in Nam, Cambo, Egypt and Indonesia. Indo was having a huge die-off and then suddenly no news. Kronyvirus news should be out today, though they are keeping information very tight. It is all to protect SA..and oil,and travel. Again, Great work. Hats off to you all.
 Quoting: Treyfish

I meant to acknowledge you earlier too Treyfish.

Thanks for your comments but you also are a major contrubutor here and also deserve a big thanks for all your great help and patrinage.

Much of what you bring here is missed by others so you provide a very valuable dimention here too.

Yours and UK anons suspicions seem to reflect an observation of the absent and usually when that happens in such a broad sense then you can be pretty sure that there is something causing it, some type of intervention.

It just isnt feasable that the various influenza strains and the novel coronavirus have gone into world wide suspended animation rather, its far more likely that someone is interfering with the information flow.

We already know that the World Health Organization has signalled their wish to drop to monthly reporting, though I did notice from a post just a few days back that there was mention of daily updates.

Im left wondering if they, the WHO are collecting all the information on the various diseases we look at, but are witholding the dissemination of this information for general consumption.

To me that is what I do believe is happening or at least something that reflects that, and if that is the case then again I go straight back to the logic for it.

That can only be for negative purposes and should that be the case then they must be condemed and demanded to reverse this action, there is simply no justification for not being totally transparent with their role and function for the worlds population.

Anything else must be judged as criminal in intent and action.

Its a rare day when an article in the MSM deserves much praise, but this one does.

Regulars here will know of my deep admiration for the scintific researchers that work to keep us healthy anf free from pandemice.

This article, to the genuine credit of its author, has been extensively researched and is an excellent read, giving insight into the little known life of those researchers and their workplaces.

I encourage all to take the time to read this article, the insights that it contains are very worthwhile.

On a side note.

While reading this article take the time to reflect on how our friends at Baxter Pharmacuticals managed to "accidentally" produce and distribute 72 kilograms of live H5N1 avian influenza contaminated vaccinations.

Clearly a very concerted attempt to start a world wide avian influenza pandemic.

Criminals.

Winnipeg’s National Microbiology Laboratory prepares for next big outbreak
Under tight security, a team of scientists at the Winnipeg lab are quietly working to keep deadly pathogens from gaining the upper hand.

WINNIPEG—In late November, a strange envelope turned up at the Canadian embassy in Lebanon. Its suspicious contents — wood shavings, according to local reports — sparked alarm: did it contain dangerous pathogens? Could this be a bioterrorist attack? The building was closed until the package could be investigated.

It is extremely rare to hear of an outbreak of H5N1 avian influenza in Europe.

This official, formal report tells of an outbreak in Lippstadt Germany and was detected in unspecified domestic birds there.
