The talk of vaccines is worrying to me.
If you choose to vaccinate please do your research first and make an informed decision.
IMO and it's only IMO, dosing up on Vit C powder is my personal choice to boost the immune system.
OP, didn't they in the last few days kill 10,000 ducks in VIC or SA due to bird flu???
Any discussion of a vaccine for H5N1 is very premature. In order to create the vaccine, they need to have the correct DNA sequences and Indonesia has been withholding them for years. Without knowing what the recent mutations are, there can be no vaccine that is effective.
Even this season's vaccine doesn't cover the newly mutated H3N2 virus; it will only protect against the older version. Hence some will get the flu vaccine and still get the flu.
While I'm all in favor of Vit C and many other alternative health measures, they really will not be able to dent the impact of H5N1 should it start to spread in wider numbers. In fact, a lot of deaths from a novel flu are the result of a
strong immune system, which overreacts to the flu virus, causing incredible damage to the body's organs, especially among the healthy 20-40 year olds. You can read about the effects of a "cytokine storm" in flu situations here -- [

Im re quoting this from earlier today as I think that it is just so important for people to know and understand what the world is looking at with "Avian", or "Bird" flu, and also known by its patholigic designation H5N1.
