Hey Arkay, Just having a few rough days this week. I have gradually being improving this year so I'm surprised but also grateful the bad days didn't hit earlier.
Sometimes can't get to the computer desk so I just use a small device to surf the web from the uncomfort of the lounge hehehe.

Farmers do not even have to tell the authorities although they are advised to provide samples. At one farm, a quarter of all lambs were affected.

Unfortunately GMO's are in most things, the big M also makes roundup (another for you to research if you haven't already), so a few months ago started my own organic vege patch, hubby hadn't tasted a REAL tomato in decades and couldn't get enough of them. I USE NO PESTICIDES, I encourage spiders to keep the insects down, and sacrifice lettuce & capscium for the grasshoppers to minimise damage to my other veges. onion smells amazing & my corn has started to grow nicely.

GMO's, fluoride, aspartame etc ALL have negitive effects on our bodies & immune systems, animals also are feed GMO's & given huge amounts of antibiotics, which we then ingest. Vaccines also compromise the immune system.

BACK ON TOPIC we are then easy prey for disease & viruses like H5N1.

Our gardens sound quite similar!!

I use garlic in all the beds and it does seem to help heaps.

But alas, I am guilty of using some snail pellets, never go near any of the glyphosates etc and am lucky to have gotten my "base" soil from a very deep sandy loam excavation so almost no weeds.

It took a heap to get the Ph right but we're there now, will be composting from now on.

Have a look at a worm farm, best fertilizer ever and they steralize the waste you give then too.

Three East Texas women die after suffering from similar flu like symptoms.

Now their families want answers.

43-year old Debra Rust of Gilmer died November 21 just hours after coming down with a high fever, vomiting, and chills.

Within nine days two other Longview women had died after suffering from similar symptoms.



His wife of 20-years died November 21-st.

The cause of death still unknown.

"She woke up that morning about two o'clock in the morning. Freezing, shaking all over just hurting," recalls Ronald Rust about the morning of November 21st.

Debbie's temperature was about 102.


Four days later 42-year old Cheryl Bothwell of Longview died.

Five days after that on November 30th 17-year old Ashley Taylor was also pronounced dead.

Ashley too had suffered from vomiting, diarrhea, high fever and eventually began having trouble breathing.

For all three women no cause of death is listed on their death certificates.

Two new reports on human cases of H5N1 avian influenza that occurred in Turkey and Indonesia during 2005 show that the illness proved difficult to diagnose, with many tests yielding false-negative results. A report on 8 cases in Turkey and a similar report on 8 Indonesian cases, published in the Thu 23 Nov New England Journal of Medicine, says many of the patients tested negative the first time around, even on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests. The Turkish report describes 8 of the 12 confirmed cases the country has had so far, all of which occurred in late December 2005 and January 2006. All 8 patients -- 4 of whom survive -- were treated at a hospital in Van in eastern Turkey. The patients included sets of 3 and 2 siblings, and 7 lived in the same community. The hospital tested a total of 290 patients for avian flu during the outbreak, using a rapid influenza test, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and real-time PCR. All the rapid and ELISA test results were negative, the report says. Four of the 8 case-patients initially had negative results on all 3 tests, using nasopharyngeal specimens. Because the patients were severely ill, the tests were repeated using tracheal aspirate specimens, and the real-time PCR tests then were positive. Tests of nasopharyngeal specimens established the diagnosis in the other 4 patients. "Before H5N1 infection was diagnosed in the 8 patients, a total of 8 real-time PCR tests, 12 rapid influenza tests, and 12 ELISA tests were negative," the article states. The Indonesian report covers 3 family clusters of H5N1 cases that occurred between June and October of 2005 and included the country's first cases. The clusters consisted of 3 cases in Tangerang, Java; 2 cases in Bintaro, Java; and 3 in Lampung, Sumatra. Four of the 8 patients died. All rapid tests on the patients were negative, and many reverse-transcriptase PCR tests were negative, particularly with nasal specimens, according to the report. Throat swabs were more likely to test positive on RT-PCR than nasal swabs were. The Turkish authors write, "Because of the difficulties in detecting H5N1 infection, repeated testing from nasopharyngeal swabs or deep tracheal-aspiration samples in patients who are strongly suspected of having H5N1 infection should be performed even if tests of initial nasophyaryngeal swabs are negative." In other findings, the Indonesian report says that the source of infection for the first patient in 2 of the clusters was never identified. The 3 patients in the first cluster reported no contact with birds, other animals, or sick people other than family members before they fell ill. In the 2nd cluster, patients reported no contact with birds, other animals, or sick people, but the index patient used fertilizer containing chicken droppings that tested positive for H5N1. The report says limited person-to-person transmission could not be ruled out in the first 2 Indonesian clusters, since the patients had no other known exposures to the virus. Three of the 4 Indonesian patients who recovered were children (aged 4, 5, and 9) who had mild disease. This resembles the pattern in Hong Kong's 1997 H5N1 outbreak, in which most children who were infected had relatively mild disease, the article says. The Indonesian authors write that the clusters in Indonesia and Turkey, as well as others in Hong Kong, Viet Nam, Thailand, China, and Azerbaijan, "raise questions as to whether genetic or other factors may predispose some persons to H5N1 virus infection or to severe disease." that description seems a little confusing too, I think that it means that the pathology tests are about the children, but its just not clear.

Again, Indonesia does a lot of poultry village farming, but with 5 people infected all at once?

What is this implying, that this villages entire flock have become infected, or is the virus mutating to airbourne contamination.

Too many incidents occuring in this region now and I for one am becoming increasingly concerned.

the example that we were given to the lethality of HIV was this analogy

If you were to sit beside an olympic swimming pool... and there was a glass of water on the edge...

You would have to consume the entire contents of the pool..representing the HIV virus, to contract HIV

wheras that little glass of water, representing Hep B, would indicate the same contamination risk, by comparison.

With respect to anyone that might be HIV positive, I intend no dissrespect.

But, to become infected with HIV, basically you really do have to exchange contaminated blood.

Whereas with a bug like HEP B it is so virulent that even after say a contaminated glass should be left for some time that bug will still retain its capacity to infect.

This is why I raised the question re H5N1, after its victim has expired...just how long after death is this virus still a contaigen threat.

That is the reason for my question, still unanswered, is because the tragic death of the boy in Bali and his removal for cultural/ religous reasons caused me to ponder that risk.

I dont think that this is the case and it would be good to get some insight from her/him, given the qualifications involved.

Im concerned that this virus spreading is seeming to be a growing trend, and from time to time now there seems to be a lack of reports of poultry to human contact, does this imply possible mutation in small isolated cases, or is it just a manefestation of poor reporting and information gathering?

Does the CDC know of any case where this virus has made its necessary mutations to become an airborne vector, this is my greatest concern?

Surely research laboratories and suitably equiped facilities and their personnell would be well known to the researchers that conducted these developments that instead of insisting on publishing for all to see, they restrict their findings to other credible research facilities.

Given time, and I have the tinniest of knowledge in this area of pathology, but I honestly believe that even I could develop this virus into an airborne vector that would directly contaminate humans.

Its just not that difficult a process to understand, and I am NOT a scientist.

This bug will do that for itself naturally sooner or later anyway.

Why would anyone even consider placing that knowledge into the hands of less ethical entities.

While I dont wish to focus on any individual section of our world wide communities, there are those that consider suicide bombing as an acceptable practice.

With that said, the argument that the irresponsible production and deliberate release of H5N1 because of its indiscriminate nature would not be used in a deliberate sense doesent hold any credibility with me.

I profoundly dissagree with those assertions, given the above mentioned considerations.

Some religous fervour is so powerful that people will follow any direction that is an ordained religous or cultural assertion no matter how destructive.

And for that matter there is no way that this information should not be subjected to the most rigerous of controls.
